4. Control Board

This is the final possible reason why your Amana oven igniter is not working. The control board sends voltage to the igniter. So, if the control board fails, the igniter won’t receive the voltage to heat up and light the gas sent from the safety valve. If you have checked all the components above but none of them is faulty, read this article: Amana Oven Control [Issues & Proven Solutions] to replace the control board.

How To Test Amana Oven Igniter

Below, we show you how to test your Amana oven igniter…

Step 1: Isolate the igniter from the oven. You can read the “Amana Oven Igniter Not Working” section if you don’t know how to access the igniter.

Step 2: Get a multimeter.

Step 3: Turn the multimeter’s dial to the lowest ohms setting.

Step 4: If you are using an analog multimeter, touch the two probes together while adjusting the needle on the display to read 0. If you are using a digital multimeter, skip this step.

Step 5: Touch the two multimeter probes to the two terminals of the igniter.

Step 6: Look at the reading on the multimeter’s display. You should see a reading anywhere from 0 to 1100 ohms if the igniter is still good. If the multimeter’s display doesn’t change, the igniter doesn’t have continuity. This means that the igniter is faulty and should be replaced.
