Electrolux Oven Door Not Closing Properly — How To Fix

If your Electrolux oven door is not closing properly, the door hinges or door seal could be faulty. Below, we show you how to replace these two components.

1. Door Hinges

If the springs on the oven door hinges get weak, the oven door won’t close properly. Below, we walk you through the steps you need to follow in order to replace Electrolux oven door hinges…

Step 1: Pull the oven away from the wall.

Step 2: Unplug the oven’s power cord from the outlet.

Step 3: Open the door of the oven.

Step 4: There is a lock on each oven door hinge. Flip the locks towards yourself using a flat blade screwdriver.

Step 5: Close the door partially.

Step 6: Lift the door off and set on a surface lined with a cloth.

Step 7: Take out the screws at the top and bottom of the oven door which hold the two assemblies together.

Step 8: Lift the inner door off the outer one.

Step 9: Take out the screws which hold both door hinges to the door.

Step 10: Remove the door hinges and get new ones.

Step 11: Position the hinges on the door and hold them in place with the screws.

Step 12: Return the inner door to the outer one.

Step 13: Secure them with the screws.

Step 14: Lift the door.

Step 15: Position the door hinges into the slots in the sides of the oven frame.

Step 16: Fully open the door and flip back the hinge locks

Step 17: Shut the door.

Step 18: Plug the oven’s power cord back in and push the oven back into place.

2. Door Seal

If your Electrolux oven door still won’t close properly after replacing the hinges, the door seal should be replaced. Follow the steps listed below to replace your Electrolux oven door seal…

Step 1: Unplug the oven’s power cord from the outlet.

Step 2: Open the door of the oven.

Step 3: Pull out the ends of the door seal from the oven door.

Step 4: Unhook the door seal clips from the holes.

Step 5: Get a new door seal.

Step 6: Insert the clips on the new door seal into the holes in the oven door.

Step 7: Tuck the ends into the oven door.

Step 8: Shut the door of the oven and plug the power cord back in.

Step 1: Pull the oven away from the wall.

Step 2: For safety, unplug the oven’s power cord from the outlet or switch off the circuit breaker.

Step 3: Turn the oven around to gain access to the back.

Step 4: Using a quarter inch nut driver, take out the screws which hold the oven’s lower back panel in place.

Step 5: Lift the back panel off and set is aside.

Step 6: Take a picture of the door lock motor to remember where each wire goes on it.

Step 7: Disconnect the wires from the door lock motor.

Step 8: Use the same quarter inch nut driver to take out the screws which hold the door lock motor in place.

Step 9: Lift the door lock motor off the rod.

Step 10: Get a new door lock motor.

Step 11: Position the door lock motor on the oven’s rear and insert the rod into it.

Step 12: Hold the door lock motor in place using the two quarter inch screws.

Step 13: Using the picture you took for reference, reconnect the wires to the door lock motor.

Step 14: Reposition the oven’s lower back panel.

Step 15: Hold the panel in place with the quarter inch screws.

Step 16: Plug the oven back in or switch the oven’s circuit breaker back on.

Step 17: Return the oven to its usual position.

If the glass of your Electrolux oven door glass shattered, you should replace it. If an object was used to hit the glass accidentally, a crack probably developed. Over time, this crack will expand due to the heat coming from the oven. Finally, the glass will give way and shatter or explode. We will show you how to replace the inner glass of your Electrolux oven and the outer glass as well.

1. Inner Glass

To replace the inner door glass of your Electrolux oven, follow the steps listed below…

Step 1: Unplug the oven’s power cord and open the door.

Step 2: Using a Philips head screwdriver, take out the screw on the two sides of the door close to the door hinges. There is one screw on each side.

Step 3: There is a small hole in each door hinge, insert a screw into each door hinge.

Step 4: Close the door till it can’t go any further then lift it off the hinges.

Step 5: Place the door on a sturdy surface lined with a cloth.

Step 6: Use the same Philips head screwdriver to remove the screws holding the door handle in place.

Step 7: Set the door handle aside.

Step 8: Lift off the cap at the top of the door and set it aside as well.

Step 9: Using the Philips head screwdriver, take out the four screws at the bottom of the oven door.

Step 10: Lift the inner door assembly off the outer door.

Step 11: Flip the door over and take out the screws which hold the inner glass’s support panel in place using a quarter inch nut driver.

Step 12: Lift the support panel off and set it aside.

Step 13: Lift the inner glass out.

Step 14: To separate the glass frame, bend the small metal tab using a flat head screwdriver.

Step 15: Clean out the remains of the door glass and get a new one.

Step 16: Reposition the frame on the inner glasses.

Step 17: Bend the tab back to hold the frame in place.

Step 18: Place the glass back onto the inner door assembly with the smooth side of the frame faced up.

Step 19: Reposition the glass support panel.

Step 20: Hold the panel in place with the four quarter inch screws.

Step 21: Reposition the outer door on the inner door assembly.

Step 22: Return the four Philips head screws at the bottom.

Step 23: Reposition the end cap on the door assembly.

Step 24: Position the handle on the end cap and hold it in place with the two screws.

Step 25: Lift the oven door up.

Step 26: Position the door back on the hinges.

Step 27: Remove the screws you put in between the door hinges.

Step 28: Tighten the two screws on the door which hold the hinges in place.

Step 29: Shut the oven door.

Step 30: Plug the oven’s power cord back into the outlet.

2. Outer Door Glass

Below, we walk you through the steps you need to follow in order to replace your outer Electrolux oven door glass…

Step 1: As always, unplug the oven’s power cord for safety.

Step 2: Open the door of the oven.

Step 3: Using a flat head screwdriver, flip the locks on the door hinges forward.

Step 4: Close the door till it stops.

Step 5: Lift the door off and set on a cloth lined surface.

Step 6: Using a Philips head screwdriver, take out the screws at the top of the door which hold the handle and trim in place.

Step 7: Remove the door handle and the top trim.

Step 8: Clean out the remains of the outer door glass and get a new one.

Step 9: Slide the new glass onto the door assembly.

Step 10: Reposition the upper door trim and handle.

Step 11: Secure them using the two Philips head screws.

Step 12: Insert the door hinges back into the slots on the sides of the oven frame.

Step 13: Fully open the door and flip the hinge locks back.

Step 14: Shut the door and plug the oven back in.

How To Open Electrolux Oven Door

To open your Electrolux oven door, do the following…

Step 1: Grip the oven door handle.

Step 2: Pull the handle towards yourself to open the door.
