Frigidaire Oven Glass Shattered Or Exploded — What To Do

If your Frigidaire oven glass shattered or exploded, it will need to be replaced. Below we show you how to replace a Frigidaire oven inner and outer glass.

1. Inner Glass

To replace your inner Frigidaire oven glass, simply follow these steps…

Step 1: Unplug the oven from the outlet.

Step 2: Open the oven door.

Step 3: There are clips on the door hinges. Push each lock down to release the door. You can do this with a flat head screwdriver.

Step 4: Close the door till you feel the locks engage.

Step 5: Hold the sides of the door tightly and lift it off.

Step 6: Place the door on a sturdy surface lined with a cloth.

Step 7: Remove any pieces of glass that can be removed.

Step 8: Take out the two screws at the top of the door which hold the door handle in place with a Philips head screwdriver.

Step 9: Set the door handle aside.

Step 10: Also take out the other screws at the bottom of the door using the same screwdriver.

Step 11: Lift the inner door carefully.

Step 12: Move the outer door aside.

Step 13: Take out the Philips head screws on the sides of the inner door which secure the door hinges. There should be two screws on each side.

Step 14: Set the door hinges aside.

Step 15: Turn the inner door around and take out the screws which hold the panel of the inner glass.

Step 16: Lift the panel and set it aside.

Step 17: For safety, put on some gloves.

Step 18: Remove any remaining pieces of glass from the inner door frame.

Step 19: Lift off the glass frame and set it aside.

Step 20: Get a new glass.

Step 21: Position the inner glass in the inner door.

Step 22: Return the glass frame.

Step 23: Position the panel on the glass frame and hold it in place with the screws.

Step 24: Flip the door over.

Step 25: Position the hinges on the inner door.

Step 26: Hold them in place with the screws.

Step 27: Return the inner door to the outer one.

Step 28: Secure it with the screws at the bottom.

Step 29: Position the door handle back and secure with the two Philips head screws.

Step 30: Lift the door assembly up.

Step 31: Align the hinges on the door into the slots on the sides of the oven.

Step 32: Open the oven door completely.

Step 33: Push the hinge clips back to hold the door in place.

Step 34: Shut the door and plug the oven back in.

2. Outer Glass

If the outer glass of your Frigidaire oven shattered or exploded, follow the steps listed below to replace it…

Step 1: Unplug the oven’s power cord from the outlet. You may need to pull the oven away from the wall to do this.

Step 2: Open the oven door.

Step 3: Push the clips on the door hinges down.

Step 4: Close the door till it can’t go any further.

Step 5: Tightly grip the sides of the door and lift it off the oven.

Step 6: Place the door assembly on a cloth lined sturdy surface.

Step 7: Using a Philips head screwdriver, take out the two screws at the top of the oven door which hold the door handle in place.

Step 8: Remove the handle.

Step 9: Using the same screwdriver, take out the other screws at the bottom of the door which hold the inner door to the outer one.

Step 10: Lift the inner door and set it aside.

Step 11: Carefully pull off the plastic trim from the outer door.

Step 12: Using a putty knife, carefully pry off the side trim pieces from the glass.

Step 13: Remove the remains of the glass and get a new one.

Step 14: Position the side trim pieces on the new outer glass.

Step 15: Also return the top trim as well.

Step 16: Lift the inner door and position it on the outer one.

Step 17: Return the handle at the top of the door.

Step 18: Hold the handle in place with the two screws.

Step 19: Also return the other screws at the bottom of the door which hold it in place.

Step 20: Lift the door.

Step 21: Align the hinges on the door into the slots in the oven.

Step 22: Open the door fully.

Step 23: Push the hinge locks back to secure the door.

Step 24: Shut the door and plug the oven back in.

How To Remove Frigidaire Oven Door To Clean The Glass

To clean your Frigidaire oven glass, do the following…

Step 1: Unplug the oven from the outlet and open the door.

Step 2: There is a lock on each door hinge. Push the lock down to release the door.

Step 3: Close the door till it stops.

Step 4: Hold the sides of the door tightly and lift it off.

Step 5: Set the door on a towel lined surface.

Step 6: Take out the two Philips head screws which hold the door handle in place.

Step 7: Set the door handle aside.

Step 8: Take out the other screws at the bottom of the door.

Step 9: Lift the door off.

Step 10: Spray some glass on the inner glass and outer glass.

Step 11: Wipe with a microfiber cloth.

Step 12: Once the glasses are dry, return the inner door to the outer one.

Step 13: Hold them in place with the screws at the bottom.

Step 14: Return the handle and the screws which hold it in place.

Step 15: Lift the door and position the hinges back in the slots on the sides of the oven.

Step 16: Open the door completely and flip the locks back.

Step 17: Close the oven door.

Frigidaire Stove Top Glass Broken — What To Do

If your Frigidaire stove top glass is a bit cracked, you don’t really have to replace it. But, if the glass top is really broken, it would be best to replace it to avoid complications. Note that Frigidaire glass stove tops can be expensive. Below are the steps you need to follow in order to replace the glass stove top of your Frigidaire range…

Step 1: Pull the oven away from the wall.

Step 2: Unplug the power cord from the outlet to avoid the risk of electrocution.

Step 3: Open the door of the oven.

Step 4: Take out the screws underneath the stove top’s front lip using a Philips head screwdriver. There will be two or three screws.

Step 5: Lift the stove top carefully.

Step 6: Place a cloth under the stove top.

Step 7: Prop the stove top using a sturdy piece of wood.

Step 8: Take out the screws which hold the surface elements’ support brackets in place. There are screws on each side.

Step 9: Lower the support brackets carefully.

Step 10: Remove the glass stove top.

Step 11: Get a new glass stove top.

Step 12: Pull off the mounting clips on the old stove top’s rear using a pair of pliers.

Step 13: Attach the clips to the new stove top.

Step 14: Take out the screws which hold the front brace to the stove top using a Philips head screwdriver and a quarter inch nut driver.

Step 15: Screw the support brace to the new stove top.

Step 16: Take the stove top to the oven and hold it up with the piece of wood.

Step 17: Position the elements and support brackets on the stove top.

Step 18: Hold them in place with the screws.

Step 19: Remove the piece of wood and cloth.

Step 20: Insert the clips on the stove top’s rear into the slots in the oven’s rear.

Step 21: Lower the stove top down.

Step 22: Hold the stove top in place with the screws.

Step 23: Close the oven door.

Step 24: Plug the oven in and push it back to the wall.
