1. Igniter

Step 1: Unplug the oven’s power cord or switch off the circuit breaker.

Step 2: Open the door of the oven.

Step 3: Push the lock on each door hinge towards yourself with a flat blade screwdriver.

Step 4: Close the door till it stops.

Step 5: Grip the sides of the oven door and lift it off.

Step 6: Set the door on a cloth line surface.

Step 7: Slide out the racks in the oven and set them aside.

Step 8: Using the same flat blade screwdriver, take out the screws which hold the oven’s bottom panel in place.

Step 9: Lift the panel out of the oven and set it aside.

Step 10: Take out the screw which holds the burner shield in place using a 3/8th inch nut driver.

Step 11: Remove the burner shield and set it aside.

Step 12: Pull out the oven’s bottom drawer.

Step 13: Using a quarter inch nut driver, take out the screw which holds the igniter wire cover in place.

Step 14: Move the cover and disconnect the igniter wire plug.

Step 15: Disconnect the wires connected to the safety valve.

Step 16: Take out the two screws which hold the igniter to the right side of the burner tube.

Step 17: Test the igniter using multimeter. If the igniter has no continuity, it should be replaced.

Step 18: Get a replacement igniter and screw it to the burner tube.

Step 19: Reconnect the wires to the safety valve.

Step 20: Pass the igniter wire plug back through the metal cover.

Step 21: Reconnect the igniter wire plug.

Step 22: Hold the igniter wire cover in place with the screw you took out.

Step 23: Also reposition the burner shield and hold it in place with the screw.

Step 24: Reposition the bottom panel of the oven.

Step 25: Return the screws which hold the bottom panel in place.

Step 26: Return the racks to the oven.

Step 27: Position the hinges on the oven door into the slot on each side of the oven.

Step 28: Open the oven door completely and push back the locks which secure the door hinges.

Step 29: Shut the oven door.

Step 30: Plug the oven back in or switch the circuit breaker back on.

2. Safety Valve

The safety valve sends gas to the igniter. If the safety valve is faulty, the igniter won’t receive any gas to ignite. To test and replace the safety valve in a Frigidaire oven, follow the steps listed below…

Step 1: Pull the oven away from the wall and disconnect the power cord.

Step 2: Shut off the oven’s gas supply as well.

Step 3: Using a pair of channel lock pliers and a 9/16th inch wrench, unscrew the nut which holds the gas tube to the safety valve on the lower back of the oven.

Step 4: Go to the front of the oven and open the door.

Step 5: Flip the locks on the door hinges forward with a flat head screwdriver.

Step 6: Close the door till it can’t go any further.

Step 7: Grip the sides of the door, lift it off, and set on a sturdy surface lined with a cloth.

Step 8: Take out the racks in the oven.

Step 9: Take out the two screws at the bottom of the oven.

Step 10: Remove the bottom panel and set it aside.

Step 11: Take out the screw which secures the burner shield with a 3/8th inch nut driver.

Step 12: Remove the burner shield from the oven.

Step 13: Pull out the bottom drawer and disconnect the wires connected to the safety valve.

Step 14: Take out the two screws which hold the burner tube in place. There will be one screw at the front and one at the back.

Step 15: Take out the screw which holds the safety valve in place.

Step 16: Test the safety valve using a multimeter after removing it from the oven. If there is no continuity, the valve should be replaced.

Step 17: Get a new safety valve.

Step 18: Transfer the mounting bracket from the old safety valve to the new one.

Step 19: Position the safety valve in the oven and hold it in place with the screw.

Step 20: Align the burner tube on the safety valve.

Step 21: Return the screws at the front and back of the oven interior which hold the burner tube in place.

Step 22: Reconnect the wires to the safety valve.

Step 23: Position the burner shield and secure it with the screw.

Step 24: Return the oven’s bottom panel.

Step 25: Hold the bottom panel in place with the screws.

Step 26: Return the racks to the oven.

Step 27: Lift the oven door and reposition the hinges in the slots on the sides of the oven.

Step 28: Open the door fully and flip the hinge locks back.

Step 29: Shut the oven door and push the bottom drawer back in.

Step 30: Go to the oven’s rear and return the nut which secures the gas tube to the safety valve. Make sure to tighten it properly or gas will leak.

Step 31: Plug the oven back in.

4. Broil Element

The bake and broil elements in an electric oven work together to heat the oven. If the broil element stops working, the oven won’t heat. To replace the broil element in a Frigidaire oven, simply follow the steps below…

Step 12: Get a new broil element and insert the terminals into the back of the oven.

Step 13: Return the two screws on the upper back wall of the oven which hold the broil element.

Step 14: Go to the oven’s rear and connect the wires to the broil element terminals.

Step 15: Position the back panels on the oven.

Step 16: Hold the panels in place with the screws.

Step 17: Go to the oven interior and return the screws on the top wall which secure the broil element.

Step 18: Slide the racks into the oven.

5. Thermal Fuse

Step 8: Take out the screw which holds the thermal fuse to the back of the oven.

Step 9: Remove the thermal fuse and get a replacement.

Step 10: Position the new thermal fuse on the oven and hold it in place with the screw.

Step 9: Secure the new relay board to the oven’s rear using the three screws.

1. Broil Element
