Frigidaire Oven Is Not Working [Proven Solutions]

If your Frigidaire oven is not working and you would like to fix it yourself, this article is for you. We will show you the possible reasons why your Frigidaire oven won’t work and how to fix them.

Frigidaire Oven Is Not Working — Causes And Solutions

There are many possible reasons why your Frigidaire oven won’t work. We have listed each one below and what to do about them.

1. Bake Element

If your Frigidaire oven is an electric one and it won’t work, the first component you should check is the bake element. Read this article to test and replace the bake element in a Frigidaire oven. Also read the article in the link if your Frigidaire oven is not working but the broiler is.

2. Broil Element

The bake and broil elements in a Frigidaire oven work together to heat your oven. If the broil element in your Frigidaire oven stops heating, the oven won’t work as well. To test and replace the broil element in a Frigidaire oven, do the following…

Step 1: Pull the oven away from the wall and unplug it from the outlet.

Step 2: Open the oven door.

Step 3: Take out the racks in the oven.

Step 4: Go to the oven’s rear.

Step 5: Take out the screws which hold the oven’s lower back panel in place.

Step 6: Remove the oven’s lower back panel and set aside.

Step 7: Disconnect the wires connected to the broil element terminals.

Step 8: Go to the front of the oven.

Step 9: Take out the two screws on the oven’s back wall of the oven interior which secure the broil element.

Step 10: Also take out the other screws on the top wall.

Step 11: Pull out the broil element from the oven.

Step 12: Get a multimeter and turn it to the ohms setting.

Step 13: Touch the multimeter probes to the terminals of the broil element. If the display doesn’t change, the broil element doesn’t have continuity. If there is no continuity, get a new broil element.

Step 14: Position the broil element in the oven.

Step 15: Return the screws at the top and back which hold the broil element in place.

Step 16: Return the racks to the oven and shut the door.

Step 17: Connect the wires to the broil element terminals.

Step 18: Reposition the oven’s lower back panel and hold it in place with the screws.

Step 19: Plug the oven in.

Step 20: Push the oven back to the wall.

3. Igniter

If your Frigidaire oven is a gas one, the igniter is the first component you should check if it stops working. Read this article to test and replace the igniter in a Frigidaire oven. If you test your igniter and it isn’t faulty, keep reading. Also read the article in the link if your Frigidaire oven igniter is not working.

4. Safety Valve

The safety valve sends gas to the igniter. If the safety valve fails, the igniter won’t receive the gas to ignite. Below are the steps for you to follow in order to test and replace the safety valve in a Frigidaire oven…

Step 1: First, switch off your oven’s circuit breaker or unplug the power cord.

Step 2: Turn off the oven’s gas supply as well.

Step 3: Take out the nut securing the gas tube to the safety valve using a pair of channel lock pliers and a 9/16th inch wrench.

Step 4: Open the oven door and flip the lock on each door hinge with a flat head screwdriver.

Step 5: Push the door closed till it stops.

Step 6: Lift the door off the oven and set on a cloth lined surface. Do not lift the door up by the handle.

Step 7: Remove the screws which hold the oven interior’s bottom panel in place with a flat head screwdriver.

Step 8: Take out the screw which holds the burner shield using a 3/8th inch nut driver.

Step 9: Set the burner shield aside.

Step 10: Pull out the oven’s bottom drawer.

Step 11: Disconnect the igniter wires from the terminals of the safety valve.

Step 12: Take out the two screws which secure the burner tube. There will be one screw at the front and one at the back.

Step 13: Move the burner tube to the side.

Step 14: Take out the screw in front of the safety valve which holds it in place.

Step 15: Remove the mounting bracket from the safety valve.

Step 7: Get a multimeter and turn it to the ohms setting.

Step 8: Touch the multimeter probes to the terminals of the thermal fuse. If the multimeter’s display doesn’t change when you do this, there is no continuity.

Step 9: Get a new thermal fuse.

Step 10: Take out the screw which holds the thermal fuse.

Step 11: Screw the new thermal fuse in place.

Step 12: Connect the wires to the thermal fuse.

Step 13: Reposition the lower back panel and secure with the screws.
