Frigidaire Oven Light Not Working — How To Fix

Below we have listed the four possible reasons why your Frigidaire oven light won’t work.

1. Light Bulb

This is the most likely reason why your Frigidaire oven light won’t work. Follow these steps to replace your Frigidaire oven light bulb…

Step 1: Pull the oven away from the wall and unplug the power cord from the outlet.

Step 2: Open the door of the oven.

Step 3: Slide out the racks in the oven.

Step 4: Push the metal light cover retainer to the right.

Step 5: Remove the light cover.

Step 6: Remove the light bulb by turning it counterclockwise.

Step 7: Get a new light bulb. Make sure you get the right one for your oven’s model.

Step 8: Screw the light bulb into the socket.

Step 9: Return the light cover and push the metal retainer back to hold it in place.

Step 10: Slide the racks back into the oven.

2. Light Socket

To test and replace a Frigidaire oven light socket, follow these steps…

Step 1: Pull the oven away from the wall.

Step 2: Unplug the oven’s power cord from the outlet.

Step 3: Open the oven door.

Step 4: Take out the oven racks.

Step 5: Push the metal retainer of the light cover to the right.

Step 6: Remove the light cover and set it aside.

Step 7: Unscrew the light bulb by turning it to the left.

Step 8: Go to the oven’s rear and take out the screw underneath the lower back panel. If there is no screw underneath the lower back panel, skip this step.

Step 9: Take out the screws which hold the oven’s lower back panel using a quarter inch nut driver. There should be about four screws.

Step 10: Lift the panel off and set it aside.

Step 11: Disconnect the wires from the light socket. The light socket is on the right.

Step 12: Using a multimeter, test the light socket for continuity. If there is no continuity, the light socket should be replaced.

Step 13: Squeeze the plastic clips on the light socket together and push it through the hole.

Step 14: Remove the light socket and get a new one.

Step 15: Align the clips on the light socket into the slots in the frame.

Step 16: Push the light socket into place.

Step 17: Reconnect the wires to the light socket.

Step 18: Reposition the lower back panel and hold it in place with the screws.

Step 19: Return the other screw underneath the panel.

Step 20: Screw the light bulb back into the socket.

Step 21: Return the light cover and push the metal retainer back to hold it in place.

Step 22: Return the racks to the oven.

Step 23: Shut the door.

Step 24: Plug the oven’s power cord into the outlet and push the oven back to the wall.

3. Light Switch

Step 1: Pull the oven away from the wall.

Step 2: Unplug the oven’s power cord.

Step 3: Open the oven door.

Step 4: Take out the screw underneath the front lip of the stove top. There will be two or three screws.

Step 5: Lift the stove top.

Step 6: Prop the stove top with a sturdy piece of wood.

Step 7: Disconnect the wire from the light switch. The light switch is on the left side.

Step 8: Squeeze the tabs on the switch and push it out.

Step 9: Test the light switch using a multimeter. If there is no continuity, the switch should be replaced.

Step 10: Get a new light switch and push it in.

Frigidaire Stove Won’t Light — How To Fix

If your Frigidaire stove won’t light, the igniter or spark module is faulty. Below we show you how to replace these two components in a Frigidaire oven.

1. Igniter

Follow the steps below to replace the igniter of a Frigidaire stove…

Step 1: Unplug the oven’s power cord and turn off the gas supply.

Step 2: Lift off the burner grates and caps.

Step 3: Take out the screws which hold the burner bases in place using a 3/16th inch nut driver. If there are no screws, just lift the burner bases off.

Step 4: After taking out the screws, lift the burner bases off and set aside.

Step 5: Using a quarter inch nut driver, take out all the screws which hold the orifice holders to the stove top. There should be ten screws on the stove top.

Step 6: Pull off the oven control knobs making sure to note where each one goes first. Take a picture to make it easier.

Step 7: Using a Philips head screwdriver, take out the two screws which hold the oven’s front panel in place. You will need to open the oven door.

Step 8: Remove the front panel and take out the two screws under the stove top.

Step 9: Lift the stove top off and set it aside.

Step 10: Disconnect the wire from the igniter of the faulty burner.

Step 11: Remove the igniter from the orifice holder and get a new one.

Step 12: Position the new igniter in the orifice holder and connect the wire to it.

Step 13: Return the stove top.

Step 14: Secure the stove top with the two screws.

Step 15: Return the oven’s front panel and the screws which hold it in place.

Step 16: Close the oven door.

Step 17: Push the oven control knobs back in.

Step 18: Pull off the orifice holders and secure them with the screws.

Step 19: Reposition the burner bases and hold them in place with the screws.

Step 20: Return the burner caps and grates.

Step 21: Plug the oven back in and turn the gas supply back on.

2. Spark Module

If replacing the igniter didn’t fix the problem, follow these steps to replace the spark module…

Step 1: Pull the oven away from the wall.

Step 2: Unplug the oven’s power cord from the outlet and turn off the gas supply.

Step 3: Take out the screws which hold the oven’s lower back panel in place. There should be about six screws.

Step 4: Remove the panel and set it aside.

Step 5: Detach the spark module from the oven frame. The spark module will be on the right side of the oven’s upper back.

Step 6: Get a new spark module.

Step 7: Disconnect the wires from the old spark module and connect them to the new one. Make sure to connect each wire to the right place.

Step 8: Reposition the spark module on the oven frame.

Step 9: Return the oven’s lower back panel and hold it in place with the screws.

Step 10: Plug the oven back into the outlet.

Step 11: Turn the oven’s gas supply back on.

Step 13: Take out the other screws which hold the stove top in place. There are two screws under the stove top.

Step 14: Lift the stove top off and set aside.

Step 15: Take a picture of the spark module to remember where each wire goes. The spark module is on the left.

Step 16: Take out the Philips head screw which holds the spark module in place.

Step 17: Remove the spark module and get a replacement.

Step 18: Secure the new spark module to the oven frame with the screw.

Step 19: Reconnect the wires to the spark module making sure each one goes to the right place.

Step 20: Reposition the stove top and secure it with the screws.

Step 21: Return the front panel and the screws under it.

Step 22: Push the oven control knobs back into the right places.

Step 23: Close the oven door.

Step 24: Pull the orifice holders up and hold them in place with the screws.

Step 25: Return the burner bases and the screws which hold them in place.

Step 26: Also return the burner caps and grates.

Step 27: Plug the oven back in.

Step 28: Turn the gas supply back in.
