1. Convection Fan

Below, we have listed the steps you need to follow in order to test and replace the convection fan motor in your Gorenje oven…

Step 1: First of all, disconnect the power to your Gorenje oven to avoid the risk of electrocution. Do this by unplugging the power cord from the outlet. You could also switch the circuit breaker off.

Step 2: Open the door of your Gorenje oven.

Step 3: If your Gorenje oven is installed to a cabinet, you will need to uninstall it. For this, you will need a Philips head screwdriver.

Step 4: There are two screws on each side of the oven’s frame. Take out the screws using the Philips head screwdriver.

Step 5: Before lifting the oven out of the cabinet, you should uninstall the door. This will make the oven easier to lift out. To do this, flip the latch on each door hinge forward using a flat blade screwdriver.

Step 6: Push the door closed till it can’t go any further.

Step 13: Lift the fan cover out of the oven and set it aside.

Step 14: Take out the nut which holds the fan blade to the shaft of the motor. Since the nut is reverse threaded, you will need to turn it clockwise to remove.

Step 15: Slide the fan blade off the motor shaft.

Step 16: Using the Philips head screwdriver, take out the screws which hold the top panel to the oven. Unscrew the top panel close to the oven’s rear.

Step 17: Lift the panel off.

Step 18: Also unscrew the oven’s rear access panel.

Step 19: Lift the panel off and set it aside.

Step 20: Disconnect the wires connected to the terminals of the fan motor. Make sure to note where each one goes first.

Step 21: Get a multimeter and turn the dial to the lowest ohms setting.

Step 22: Touch the multimeter’s probes to the terminals of the fan motor. If the multimeter shows a reading, the fan motor is still good. However, if there isn’t a reading, the fan motor should be replaced.

Step 23: Take out the screws which hold the fan motor in place.

Step 24: Remove the fan motor.

Step 25: Get a new fan motor for your Gorenje oven.

Step 26: Position the fan motor on the oven’s rear and hold it in place with the screws you took out earlier on.

Step 39: Slide the racks back into the oven.

Step 40: Lift the oven door.

Step 41: Position the two door hinges in the slots on the lower corners of the oven’s frame.

Step 42: Open the oven door completely.

Step 43: Flip the latches on the hinges back to hold the door in place.

Step 44: Shut the door of your Gorenje oven.

Step 45: Reconnect the power to the oven by plugging the power cord back into the outlet or switching the circuit breaker back on.

Step 16: Use the Philips head screwdriver to take out the screws on the sides of the oven which hold the top panel of the cooling fan in place. There are two screws on the upper sides of each panel.

Step 17: Note where each wire goes on the cooling fan by taking a picture.

Step 18: Disconnect the wires from the terminals of the cooling fan.

Step 19: Get a multimeter and turn the dial to the lowest ohms setting.

Step 20: Touch the probe of the multimeter to the terminals of the cooling fan. If you see a reading of around 280 ohms on the multimeter when you do this, the cooling fan is still good. However, if you don’t see a reading or the reading is far lower than 280, the cooling fan is faulty.

Step 21: Lift up the support panel of the cooling fan.

Step 22: When you lift up the panel, you will see two screws which hold the cooling fan in place. Take out the screws using the Philips head screwdriver.

Step 23: Lift the cooling fan off the support panel and get a new one.

Step 24: Position the new cooling fan on the panel.

Step 25: Hold the cooling fan in place with the screws.

Step 26: Lower the support panel.

Step 27: Return the four screws on the sides of the oven which hold the cooling fan’s support panel in place.

Step 28: Connect the wires to the terminals of the new cooling fan. Make sure that each wire goes to the right place.

Step 29: Hook the wires at the top of the oven back in the plastic twist retainers.

Step 30: Reposition the oven’s rear panel.

Step 31: Hold the rear panel in place with the Philips head screws.

Step 32: Also reposition the top panels of the oven.

Step 33: Secure the top panels with the Philips head screws as well.

Step 34: Lift the oven up and push it back into the cabinet.

Step 35: Return the four Philips head screws on the sides of the oven’s frame which hold it to the cabinet.

Step 36: Lift the door of the oven.

Step 37: Position the door hinges in the slots on the sides of the oven’s frame.

Step 38: Once the hinges are properly seated, open the door completely.

Step 39: Flip the hinge latches to hold the door in place.
