If your Hotpoint oven grill is not working, there are two possible reasons for it. Below we have listed them and the steps you need to follow to fix them.
1. Grill Element
A faulty grill element is the most likely reason your Hotpoint oven grill won’t work. Below we have listed the steps for you to follow in order to replace the grill element in a Hotpoint oven…
Step 1: Pull the oven away from the wall and unplug the oven’s power cord or switch the circuit breaker off to avoid the risk of electrocution.
Step 2: Turn the oven around and take out the screws which hold the upper back panel.
Step 3: Lift the upper back panel off and set it aside.
Step 4: Locate the grill element terminals and disconnect the two wires connected to them.
Step 5: Go to the oven’s front.
Step 6: Open the door of the oven and slide out the racks inside.
Step 7: On the top of the oven interior, there are two screws which hold the grill element in place. Take them out.
Step 8: Take out the two screws on the upper back wall of the oven which secure the grill element as well.
Step 9: If your oven’s temperature sensor is located between the grill element terminals, take out the screws which secure it in order to remove the grill element.
Step 10: Remove the grill element from the oven and get a replacement.
Step 11: Take the grill element to the oven and insert the terminals in the back wall of the oven.
Step 12: Return the two screws on the back wall of the oven which secure the grill element.
Step 13: Also return the other screws at the top of the oven.
Step 14: Slide the racks back into the oven.
Step 15: Close the door and go back to the rear of the oven.
Step 16: Connect the wires to the grill element terminals.
Step 17: Return the oven’s back panel and the screws which hold it in place.
Step 18: Switch your circuit breaker back on or plug the oven back in.

How To Grill In A Hotpoint Oven
To grill in a Hotpoint oven, follow the steps listed below…
Step 1: Take out the grill pan and place your food on it. Do not line the pan with foil.
Step 2: Turn the oven on.
Step 3: Turn the grill control knob to the left for minimum heat or to the right for maximum heat.
Step 4: Leave the oven to preheat.
Step 5: After about 10 minutes, open the oven door and place your food inside. Do not close the door while grilling.
Step 6: Once you are done grilling, turn the control knob off and take out the food.

Step 1: Unplug the oven’s power cord from the outlet to avoid the risk of electrocution.
Step 2: Open the door of the oven and take out the racks.
Step 3: Take out the screws on the upper back wall of the oven which hold the grill element. There should be two screws.
Step 4: Take out the other two screws which hold the grill element.
Step 5: Go to the oven’s rear and remove the screws holding the back panel.
Step 6: Lift the back panel off and set it aside.
Step 7: Disconnect the two wires connected to the terminals of the grill element.
Step 8: Pull out the grill element from the oven.
Hotpoint Oven Not Working But Grill Is — How To Fix
If your Hotpoint oven is not working but the grill is, the heating element is probably faulty. Follow these steps to replace your Hotpoint oven heating element.
Step 1: Turn off the oven.
Step 2: Pull the oven away from the cabinet and unplug the power cord.
Step 3: Open the oven door and remove the racks.
Step 4: On the lower back wall of the oven, you will see two screws which hold the heating element in place. Take them out.
Step 5: Carefully pull out the heating element from the oven. Stop pull when you see the wires.
Step 6: Disconnect the wires from the element.
Step 7: Test the element with a multimeter. If there is no continuity, the element should be replaced.
Step 8: Get a replacement element.
Step 9: Connect the wires to the new element.
Step 10: Push the element in and secure it to the oven with the screws.
Step 11: Return the oven racks and close the door.
Step 12: Plug the oven’s power cord in and push the oven back to the wall.

If your Hotpoint oven grill keeps turning off, it may be because the door is closed. Open the door while grilling. If the oven still turns off it may be because it’s overheating. If the grill is overheating, the temperature sensor is probably faulty. Follow the steps below to replace your Hotpoint oven’s temperature sensor…
Step 1: Switch the circuit breaker off to avoid the risk of electrocution.
Step 2: Open the oven door.
Step 3: Take out each rack from the oven.
Step 4: Take out the screws on the upper back wall of the oven which hold the temperature sensor in place.
Step 5: Pull out the sensor and stop when you see the wire.
Step 6: Unplug the wire connected to the sensor.
Step 7: Take the sensor out of the oven and get a replacement.
Step 8: Plug the wire to the new sensor and push it in.
Step 9: Hold the sensor in place with the screws.
Step 10: Return the racks to the oven.
Step 11: Close the oven door.
Step 12: Switch the circuit breaker back on.
