Hotpoint Oven Cooling Fan Noise — How To Fix

If you hear the cooling fan in your Hotpoint oven making noise, it has started to fail. When a fan motor starts to fail, it will make noise. Below are the steps for you to follow in order to replace a faulty cooling fan in a Hotpoint oven…

Step 1: Switch the circuit breaker off or unplug the oven’s power cord.

Step 2: Open the door of the oven and look under the front panel.

Step 3: There are two screws underneath the front panel. Take them out.

Step 4: Slide the front panel to the side and lower it down.

Step 5: Disconnect the wires from the front panel to remove it completely.

Step 6: Take out the screws under the stove top which hold it in place. There should be two screws.

Step 7: Go to the oven’s rear and take out the other screws on the upper back which hold the stove top in place. Make sure not to take out the other screws above the two screws as the hold the stove top’s components in place.

Step 8: Carefully lift up the stove top. Make sure not to bend any of the wires as you do this.

Step 9: Note where each wire connects to on the stove top.

Step 10: Disconnect the wires from the stove top.

Step 11: Set the stove top aside on a cloth lined surface.

Step 12: Disconnect the two wires connect to the cooling fan. The fan is close to the oven’s rear.

Step 13: Take out the screws which hold the cooling fan in place. There will be about three screws.

Step 14: Carefully pull out the cooling fan and get a new one.

Step 15: Position the new fan in the oven.

Step 16: Hold the cooling fan in place with the screws.

Step 17: Connect the wires to the cooling fan.

Step 18: Lift the stove top back onto the oven.

Step 19: Reconnect the wires to the stove top.

Step 20: Return the screws at the rear of the oven which hold the stove top.

Step 21: Return the other screws at the front which secure it as well.

Step 22: Reconnect the wires to the oven’s front panel.

Step 23: Hold the panel in place with the two screws.

Step 24: Shut the door of the oven.

Step 25: Reconnect the oven’s power by switching the breaker on or plugging the power cord back in.

Step 1: First of all, switch the circuit breaker off to avoid the risk of electrocution.

Step 2: Pull the oven away from the cabinet to access the back.

Step 3: Take out the screws which hold the oven’s back panel in place.

Step 4: Set the panel aside.

Step 5: Open the door of the oven and take out the racks.

Step 6: Push the clips on the door hinges towards yourself.

Step 7: Close the door till it can’t go any further.

Step 8: Lift the door off and set aside on a sturdy towel lined surface.

Step 9: Take out the screws on the back wall of the oven which hold the fan blade cover in place.

Step 10: Remove the fan blade cover.

Step 11: Take out the nut which holds the fan blade in place using a nut driver.

Step 12: Remove the fan blade and washer.

Step 13: Take out the three screws on the oven’s back wall which hold the fan motor in place.

Step 14: Go to the oven’s rear and disconnect the wires from the fan motor.

Step 15: Remove the fan motor and get a replacement.

Step 16: Connect the wires to the new fan motor.

Step 17: Hold the motor in place with the screws.

Step 18: Return the fan blade and washer.

Step 19: Secure with the nut.

Step 20: Reposition the fan cover and the screws which hold it in place.

Step 21: Take the door back to the oven and position the hinges in the slots.

Step 22: Open the door fully and flip back the clips which hold the door in place.

Step 23: Slide the racks back into the oven.

Step 24: Return the oven’s back panel and secure with the screws.

Step 25: Close the oven door and push it back into the cabinet.

Step 26: Switch the circuit breaker back on.
