Step 6: Set the oven to 350 degrees for an hour.

If the self clean light on your Hotpoint oven is not working and self clean won’t work, it’s because the door won’t lock. If your Hotpoint oven has a manual lock, turn it to the side to lock. The lock is in between the oven and cooktop. If the door won’t lock, the door latch assembly is faulty. Follow these steps to replace the door latch assembly of a Hotpoint oven…
Step 1: First unplug the oven from the outlet to avoid the risk of electrocution.
Step 2: Open your oven door.
Step 3: Take out the screws underneath the oven cooktop.
Step 4: Lift the cooktop and hold it up using a piece of wood.
Step 5: Take out the screws which secure the metal plate at the top of the oven on the front.
Step 6: Lift the metal plate to reveal the door latch assembly.
Step 7: Take out the two screws at the front of the oven which hold the door latch assembly in place.
Step 8: Slide out the door latch assembly and pull it up.

If your Hotpoint oven doesn’t have a manual lock and the door won’t lock, the door lock motor is most likely faulty. Below are the steps you need to follow in order to replace the door lock motor in a Hotpoint oven…
Step 1: Switch the circuit breaker off or unplug the power cord from the outlet.
Step 2: Pull the oven away from the wall and remove the screws which hold the back panel in place.
Step 3: Lift the panel off and set it aside.
Step 4: Take a picture of where each wire goes on the door lock motor.
Step 5: Disconnect the wires from the door lock motor.
Step 6: Take out the screws which hold the door lock motor to the oven.
Step 7: Bend the motor back to release it from the rod.
Step 8: Test the motor for continuity using a multimeter. If there is no continuity, get a new one.
Step 9: Insert the rod into the door lock motor.
Step 10: Reconnect the wires to the motor.
Step 11: Hold the door lock motor in place with the screws.
Step 12: Return the back panel and hold it in place with the screws.
Step 13: Reconnect the power to the oven.

Step 4: Lift the cooktop and support with a piece of wood if needed.
Step 5: Take out the screws which hold the metal plate at the top of the oven to reveal the door lock motor.
Step 6: Set the panel aside.
Step 7: Note where each wire goes on the door lock motor then disconnect them.
Step 8: Take out the screws at the front of the oven which secure the motor.
Step 9: Remove the motor and test it using a multimeter. If there is no continuity, the motor should be replaced.
Step 10: Get a new motor and screw it into place.
Step 11: Connect the wires to the door lock motor.
Step 12: Return the metal plate which covers the motor and hold it in place using the screws.
Step 13: Lower the cooktop and return the screws that secure it.
Step 14: Close the oven door and plug the oven’s power cord back.

How To Clean A Hotpoint Gas Stove
To clean your Hotpoint gas stove, follow the steps below…
Step 1: Turn off your gas supply.
Step 2: Lift off the gas grates and set it aside.
Step 3: If your cooktop grates are dishwasher safe, place them in the dishwasher. If not, wash them in hot soapy water.
