Jenn-Air Oven Self Cleaning Not Working — How To Fix
Below, we talk about the possible reasons why your Jenn-Air oven will not self clean and what to do about them.
1. Thermal Fuse
If your Jenn-Air oven started self cleaning but stopped mid cycle, the thermal fuse has blown. The thermal fuse reacts to high temperatures. If the oven gets very hot, it could cause the fuse to blow. To replace the thermal fuse, you will need to replace the rear access panel. The fuse is somewhere close to the terminals of one of the oven’s heating element. Remove the thermal fuse and install a new one.
2. Door Lock Motor Assembly
The lock motor assembly locks the oven door before the self clean cycle begins. If the motor fails, the oven door won’t lock. This will prevent the self clean cycle from working. To determine if the lock motor is faulty, test it with a multimeter. If the lock motor doesn’t have continuity, replace it. Read this article: Jenn-Air Oven Door [How To, Issues & Proven Solutions] if you don’t know how to access the door lock motor in your Jenn-Air oven.
3. Bake/Broil Element
During the self clean cycle, the oven heats up to extreme temperatures. The bake and broil elements are the components that heat up the oven during the self clean cycle. If either of these elements fail, it will prevent the clean cycle from working. Test the bake and broil elements using a multimeter. If one or both of them doesn’t have continuity, you should replace them. Read this article: Jenn-Air Oven Element [Issues & Proven Solutions] to replace the bake element in your Jenn-Air oven. Read this article: Jenn-Air Oven Broiler [How To, Issues & Proven Solutions]to replace the broil element in your Jenn-Air oven.
4. Door Switch
The door switch is located on the right side of the oven’s front frame. When you close the oven door, the door switch will signal the oven control that the door has been shut. If the switch fails, it won’t send the signal. This will lead the control to think that the door hasn’t been shut, preventing the oven from self cleaning. Test the door switch with a multimeter. If the switch doesn’t have continuity, replace it. Read the “Jenn-Air Oven Door” article in the “Door Lock Motor Assembly” section above to replace your Jenn-Air oven door light switch.
5. Control Board
The control board is the brains behind the whole oven. If the board fails, none of the components will function. This includes the bake and broil elements which heat up the oven during the self clean cycle. If you have tested all the components above but your Jenn-Air oven self clean won’t work still, read this article: Jenn-Air Oven Control [Issues & Proven Solutions] to replace the control board.
Jenn-Air Oven Won’t Unlock After Self Cleaning — What To Do
Immediately after the self clean feature, the oven is still locked. Since the oven is still extremely hot, it stays locked to prevent injury. Once the oven has cooled down to room temperature, it should unlock automatically. If the oven doesn’t unlock, reset it by switching the circuit breaker off for 5 minutes. If the door still doesn’t unlock, the lock motor is faulty. Read the “Jenn-Air Oven Door” article in the “Door Lock Motor Assembly” section above to replace the lock motor in your Jenn-Air oven.

Step 11: The steam clean cycle will run for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, there will be a signal. Once you hear the signal, press the “Cancel/Off” button.
