How to Install a Frigidaire Microwave… [Detailed Guide]

If you’ve just gotten a new microwave and would rather install it yourself then have someone do it, this article is for you. We are going to show you how to install a Frigidaire microwave step by step.

How to Install a Frigidaire Microwave over the Range

Before installing your Frigidaire microwave, make sure to read this article to the end and watch the video to determine whether you can carry out the procedure. To install a Frigidaire over the range microwave, follow the steps listed below…

Step 1: Remove the tape at the top of the microwave package which holds it closed.

Step 2: Open the box.

Step 3: Take out all the hardware at the top. This includes the glass tray, the instructions, and all the other things on top of the microwave.

Step 4: Carefully turn the box upside down.

Step 5: Lift the box up from the microwave.

Step 6: Open up the package which has the installation manual in it.

Step 7: Take out the templates and the manual.

Step 8: Remove the nylon from the microwave.

Step 9: Using a Philips head screwdriver, take out the two screws at the back of the microwave which hold the mounting bracket.

Step 10: After removing the bracket, return the two screws you removed.

Step 11: Next, measure the height of your microwave.

Step 12: If your microwave is 17 inches for instance, measure this from the top part of the wall and mark it where the 17 is on your tape.

Step 13: Measure the wall from the right side of the cabinet to the left and mark the middle.

Step 14: Tape the template to the wall making sure that the center of the template aligns with the middle point you marked.

Step 15: On the template, you will see where the bracket is supposed to be. You will also see that the template indicates where you’re supposed to drill into. Drill a hole where the template indicates at the left.

Step 16: On the right side of the template, where it’s indicated, drill a half inch hole.

Step 17: Before removing the template, position the mounting bracket on it and mark the holes you will be using.

Step 18: Remove the template from the wall.

Step 19: Put the screw which comes with the microwave into the hole you marked at the right side of the mounting bracket.

Step 20: Put the toggle bolt at the end of the screw.

Step 21: Pinch the toggle closed and push it through the half inch hole you made.

Step 22: Secure the toggle bolt with the screw attached to it.

Step 23: Screw the anchor into the hole marked at the left side of the bracket.

Step 24: Make sure you tighten it.

Step 25: Ensure that the bracket is leveled.

Step 26: Take out the second template for the top of the cabinet.

Step 27: Measure and mark the center of the top cabinet.

Step 28: Tape the template on the top cabinet ensuring that the center line of the template is aligned with the place you marked on the top cabinet.

Step 29: Drill the three holes indicated on the template.

Step 30: You will also need to cut out the hole for the power cord to go through.

Step 31: Once you are done with that, remove the template.

Step 32: If you have an air duct above the cabinet, you can redirect the blower. Take out the screws which hold the blower cover in place. It will be at the back of the microwave.

Step 33: Rotate the blower to face up. To do this, remove the screw at the top first. Once you have taken out the screws, rotate the blower.

Step 34: Return the blower cover and hold it in place with the screws.

Step 35: Attach the air damper to the blower cover. This will let the air pass through as you use the microwave.

Step 36: With the help of someone else, lift the microwave up and sit it on the bracket.

Step 37: Pass the power cord through the hole you made for it.

Step 38: Open the door of the cabinet.

Step 39: Use the bolts that came with the microwave to secure it to the cabinet.

Step 40: Remove the covering on the face of the microwave and on the control panel.

Step 41: Put the turntable glass tray and support in the microwave.

Step 42: Slide the grease filters in at the bottom of the microwave.

Step 43: Plug the microwave in, and it is ready to use.

How to Install Frigidaire Microwave Door Handle

To install a Frigidaire microwave door handle, do the following…

Step 1: First of all, unplug the microwave.

Step 2: Take out the screws which hold the front grille of the microwave in place. Depending on the model of your microwave, there will be three or four screws.

Step 3: Open the microwave door.

Step 4: Gently pry out the front grille using a putty knife.

Step 5: Lift the door of the microwave off the hinges and set on a towel lined surface.

Step 6: Pry out the trim around the door using the same putty knife.

Step 7: Take out the four screws which secure the inner door assembly to the outer one.

Step 8: Use a flathead screwdriver to separate the inner door assembly from the outer one.

Step 9: Position the door handle on the door and secure it with the two screws.

Step 10: Position the inner door assembly and snap it into place.

Step 11: Secure it with the four screws.

Step 12: Snap the door trim back into place.

Step 13: Lift the door up and sit it back on the hinges.

Step 14: Return the front grille and the screws at the top.

Step 15: Close the microwave door.

Step 16: Plug the microwave back in.
