Below, we show you how to replace the temperature sensor in a Maytag electric oven and a Maytag gas oven. To replace the temperature sensor in a Maytag gas oven, follow the steps listed below…
Step 1: Pull the oven away from the wall.
Step 2: Unplug the oven’s power cord from the outlet.
Step 3: Shut off the oven’s gas supply.
Step 4: Take out the screws which hold the oven’s lower back panel in place.
Step 5: Disconnect the wire plug from the temperature sensor.
Step 6: Take out the screws which hold the temperature sensor to the oven’s rear.
Step 7: Pull out the temperature sensor.
Step 8: Get a new Maytag oven temperature sensor.
Step 9: Position the temperature sensor in the oven.
Step 10: Connect the wire plug to the temperature sensor.
Step 11: Hold the temperature sensor to the oven’s rear with the two screws.
Step 12: Reposition the oven’s lower back panel.
Step 13: Hold the oven’s back panel in place with the screws.
Step 14: Plug the oven’s power cord back into the outlet.
Step 15: Turn the oven’s gas supply back on.
Step 16: Return the oven to its usual position.

Below are the steps you need to follow in order to replace the temperature sensor in a Maytag electric oven…
Step 1: Pull the oven away from the wall to access the back panel.
Step 2: For safety, unplug the oven’s power cord from the outlet or switch the circuit breaker off.
Step 3: Go to the oven’s rear.
Step 4: Using a Philips head screwdriver, take out the screws which hold the oven’s lower back panel in place.
Step 5: Lift the panel off and set it aside.
Step 6: Disconnect the wire plug from the temperature sensor plug. The wire plug is on the right side of the oven’s rear.
Step 7: Open the door of the oven.
Step 8: Slide out the oven racks and set them aside.
Step 9: The temperature sensor is on the upper left corner on the oven’s back wall. Take out the two screws which hold the temperature sensor in place using the Philips head screwdriver.
Step 10: Pull out the temperature sensor.
Step 11: Get a new temperature sensor.
Step 12: Insert the new temperature sensor in the oven.
Step 13: Hold the temperature sensor to the oven’s back wall using the two Philips head screws.
Step 14: Slide the racks back into the oven.
Step 15: Shut the door of the oven.
Step 16: Go back to the oven’s rear.
Step 17: Reconnect the wire plug to the temperature sensor.
Step 18: Reposition the oven’s back panel.
Step 19: Hold the oven’s back panel in place with the screws.
Step 20: Plug the oven’s power cord back into the outlet.
Step 21: Return the oven to its usual position.

Step 1: Get a multimeter.
Step 2: Turn the multimeter dial to the ohms setting. If you have a manual ranging multimeter, turn the dial to the 2k or 4k setting.
Step 3: Touch each multimeter probe to the two pins of the temperature sensor wire connector. The reading should be about 1080 ohms.
