LG Microwave is Not Working But Has Power
If your LG microwave is not working but has power, it could be the result of one or more faulty components. So, let us get right into how to replace them…
The Line Fuse
One reason your LG microwave is not working but has power may be because of a blown line fuse. To test and replace the line fuse in an LG microwave, do the following…
Step 1: Turn the microwave off and unplug it from the outlet.
Step 2: Take out the screw on the left side and the three screws on the right side of the microwave.
Step 3: Take out the six screws behind the microwave that hold the cover in place.
Step 4: Lift the microwave cover up then take it out.
Step 5: Locate the ceramic line fuse. The fuse may be in a cylindrical box.

Step 7: Get a new fuse and return it to the microwave.
Step 8: Align the microwave cover and hold it in place with the screws at the back and two sides.
Step 9: Plug the microwave in and test it out.

The Diode
Another possible reason your LG microwave is not working may be because of a faulty diode. To replace the diode in an LG microwave, follow these steps…
Step 1: Turn off and unplug the microwave from the outlet.
Step 2: Take out the screws at the back and sides of the microwave which hold its cover in place. If there are screws at the top, take them out as well.
Step 3: Remove the microwave cover.
Step 4: On the right side of the microwave right behind the back panel, you will see the diode connected to the capacitor. Discharge the capacitor by placing a screwdriver with an insulated handle across the terminals of the capacitor. There will be a small pop when the capacitor is discharged.
Step 5: Disconnect the diode from the capacitor using a pair of pliers.
Step 6: Take out the screw which secures the diode.
Step 7: Get a new diode and screw it into place.
Step 8: Connect the diode to the capacitor.
Step 9: Reposition the microwave cover and hold it in place with the screws.
Step 10: Plug the microwave back in.

The Capacitor
To test and replace the capacitor in an LG microwave, follow the steps listed below…
Step 1: Unplug the microwave or turn off the circuit breaker to avoid the risk of electrocution.
Step 2: Take out the screws which hold the microwave cover in place.
Step 3: Remove the cover and set it aside.
Step 4: Before going any further, discharge the capacitor. Do this by placing a screwdriver with an insulated handle across the terminals of the capacitor. You will hear a small pop when the capacitor has been discharged.
Step 5: Disconnect the diode from the capacitor using a pair of pliers.
Step 6: Also disconnect the wires connected to the capacitor and make sure to note where each one goes.
Step 7: Take out the screws which secure the capacitor.
Step 8: Using a multimeter, test the capacitor for continuity. If there is no continuity, get a new capacitor.
Step 9: Transfer the mounting bracket from the old capacitor to the new one.
Step 10: Screw the capacitor to the microwave.
Step 11: Reconnect the wires to the right terminals of the capacitor.
Step 12: Connect the diode to the capacitor.
Step 13: Reposition the microwave cover and hold it in place with the screws.

Step 1: As always, unplug the microwave.
Step 2: Take out the screws which hold the microwave cover in place.
Step 3: Remove the microwave cover.
Step 4: On the right side of the microwave, you will see the magnetron. Disconnect the wires connected to it.
Step 5: Take out the screws which secure the magnetron to the frame.
Step 6: Remove the magnetron and test it using a multimeter. If there is no continuity, replace it.
Step 7: Screw the new magnetron to the frame.
Step 8: Connect the wires to the magnetron.
Step 9: Reposition the microwave cover and return the screws that secure it.
Step 10: Plug the microwave back in.

LG Microwave Some Buttons Are Not Working
If some buttons on your LG microwave are not working, the control panel is faulty. In order to get it operating properly again, you will need to replace the control panel. To do this, follow these steps…
Step 1: Unplug the microwave from the outlet.
Step 2: Take out the screws at the top of the microwave which hold the front vent in place.
Step 3: Open the microwave door and take out the front vent.
Step 4: Remove the screw above the control panel.
Step 5: Lift the control panel out.
Step 6: Disconnect the wires connected to the control board and make sure to remember where each one goes. To make it easier, take a picture.
Step 7: Take out the screws that secure the control board to the control panel.
Step 8: Disconnect the ribbon connector from the control board.
Step 9: Lift the control board out.
Step 10: Get a new control panel. If there is a mounting plate for the control board on the old control panel, take it out and place it on the new one.
Step 11: Return the control board to the control panel and reconnect the ribbon connector to it.
Step 12: Secure the control panel with the screws.
Step 13: Connect all the control board wires back to the appropriate places.
Step 14: Push the control panel back in and hold it in place with the screw above it.
Step 15: Return the front vent to the microwave and hold in place with the screws.
Step 16: Close the microwave door.
LG Microwave Light Bulb Not Working
If the light bulb of your LG microwave is not working, you will need to replace the light bulb. To replace the light bulb in your LG microwave, simply follow these steps…
Step 1: Unplug the microwave.
Step 2: Open the microwave door and take out the screws at the top of the microwave securing the front vent.
Step 3: Pull the vent out.
Step 4: Inside the opening, you will see a metal cover, push the tab and take the cover out.
Step 5: Unscrew the bulb and get a new one.
Step 6: Screw the new bulb into place and push the metal cover back in.
Step 7: Return the front vent and hold it in place with the screws.

LG Microwave is Not Working; No Power
If your LG microwave is not working and has no power, try unplugging it for five minutes. After five minutes, test the microwave out again. If it doesn’t work, go to the circuit breaker in your house and find out which one is for your microwave. Turn it off and leave for five minutes.
