LG Stove Glass Top Broken — How To Fix

If your LG oven glass top is broken, the best thing to do is replace it. Follow the steps below to replace the glass top of your LG oven…

Step 1: Switch off the circuit breaker for your oven.

Step 2: Open the oven door.

Step 3: Take out the screws under the glass cooktop.

Step 4: Pull the cooktop forward and lift it up.

Step 5: Prop the cooktop with a thick plank.

Step 6: Take out the screws which hold the heating elements’ brackets in place.

Step 7: Lower the heating elements on the brackets.

Step 8: Now, remove the cooktop.

Step 9: Pry off the hinge tabs at the back of the cooktop.

Step 10: Get a new cooktop.

Step 11: Push the hinge tabs into the new cooktop.

Step 12: Take the cooktop back to the oven and prop it up using a plank.

Step 13: Screw back the brackets and elements to the cooktop.

Step 14: Remove the plank and lower the cooktop.

Step 15: Push the cooktop backwards.

Step 16: Screw the cooktop back into place.

Step 17: Close the oven door.

Step 18: Switch your oven’s circuit breaker back on.

LG Oven Door Glass Shattered — Cause & Solution

If your LG oven glass door shattered all of a sudden, it’s because there was a crack on it before. If you mistakenly hit the door, it could crack. However, the glass won’t shatter immediately. As the oven heats up and cools down, the crack will expand then shatter after a while. To replace your LG oven door glass, do the following…

Step 1: Turn the oven off and unplug it from the outlet.

Step 2: Open the oven door.

Step 3: Flip the clips on the door hinges towards yourself to release the door.

Step 4: Lift the door off the oven.

Step 5: Set the door assembly on a cloth lined surface.

Step 6: Remove the three screws at the top of the oven door.

Step 7: Also take out the other two screws at the bottom.

Step 8: Separate the outer door assembly from the inner one

Step 9: Take out the screws around the inner door glass.

Step 10: Remove the brackets around the glass.

Step 11: Once you have removed all the screws, remove the metal panel around the glass.

Step 12: Remove the glass or the remains of it.

Step 13: Get a new glass and position it on the inner door assembly.

Step 14: Return the metal panel and brackets around the glass.

Step 15: Screw the panel back into place.

Step 16: Reposition the inner door assembly on the outer door assembly.

Step 17: Return the three screws at the top and the other two screws at the bottom which secure the door.

Step 18: Position the door hinges back in the slots on each side of the oven.

Step 19: Flip the clips on the door hinges backwards.

Step 20: Close the oven door and plug it back into the outlet.

LG Oven Door Cleaning In Between Glass

To clean in between your LG oven glass door, do the following…

Step 1: Turn off and unplug the oven.

Step 2: Open the door of the oven.

Step 3: Flip the clips on the hinges forward.

Step 4: Close the door till it’s slightly open.

Step 5: Lift the door up and set it on a cloth lined sturdy surface.

Step 6: Take out the two screws close to the bottom of the oven door.

Step 7: Remove the other three screws at the top of the door.

Step 8: Lift the inner door assembly away from the outer one.

Step 9: If the glass is a bit dirty, spray some glass cleaner on it and wipe with a damp cloth. If the glass is very dirty, mix some baking soda and water together.

Step 10: Apply some paste on the glass and leave it to sit for an hour.

Step 11: After an hour, spray some vinegar on the glass.

Step 12: Scrub the glass carefully with a soft sponge.

Step 13: Wipe the glass with a paper towel.

Step 14: Spray water on the glass and  wipe with a soft cloth.

Step 15: Return the inner door assembly to the outer one.

Step 16: Secure it at the bottom and top using the screws.

Step 17: Reposition the door on the oven and flip the clips back.

Step 18: Close the door and plug the oven in.

Step 1: Turn the oven off.

Step 2: Open the oven door.

Step 3: Flip the hinge locks forward.

Step 4: Lift the door up.

Step 5: Get a new LG oven glass door assembly.

Step 6: Position the door hinges in the slots on the sides of the oven.

Step 7: Lower the door.

Step 8: Flip back the hinge locks.

Step 9: Close the oven door.
