LG Oven Is Not Working After Self Cleaning — How To Fix

If your LG oven is not working after self cleaning, the thermal fuse has burned out due to the high temperature used in the process. Follow the steps below to replace the thermal fuse of your LG oven…

Step 1: Turn off and unplug your oven.

Step 2: Take out the screws behind the oven which secure its lower back panel.

Step 3: Lift the panel off.

Step 4: Disconnect the two wires connected to the thermal fuse on the right.

Step 5: Bend the metal tab on the thermal fuse to release it.

Step 6: Remove the thermal fuse and get a new one.

Step 7: Position the thermal fuse on the tab.

Step 8: Bend the tab back.

Step 9: Reconnect the wires to the thermal fuse.

Step 10: Align the back panel of the oven and secure it with the screws.

Step 11: Plug the oven in.

If your LG oven broiler is not working, the broil element will need to be replaced. Follow the steps below to replace the broil element in an LG oven…

Step 1: Unplug your oven or switch the circuit breaker off.

Step 2: Open the door of the oven.

Step 3: Slide out the racks in the oven.

Step 4: Take out the screws on the upper back wall of the oven which secure the broil element.

Step 5: If there are support brackets on the broil element, take out the screws which hold them in place.

Step 6: Pull the broil element gently.

Step 7: Disconnect the wires connected to the broil element. Make sure the wires do not slip back.

Step 8: Get a replacement broil element.

Step 9: Reconnect the wires to it.

Step 10: Position the broil element back on the top wall of the oven.

Step 11: Return the brackets on the element and secure with the screws.

Step 12: Also return the other two screws on the upper back wall of the oven.

Step 13: Slide back the racks into the oven.

Step 14: Close the door and plug the oven back in.

Step 1: Disconnect the power to the oven by unplugging it.

Step 2: Take out the screws holding the upper back panel and metal brackets under it.

Step 3: Remove both the panel and brackets.

Step 4: Disconnect the ribbon cable on the control board.

Step 5: Dip a cotton bud into alcohol and clean the ribbon connector.

Step 6: Get a business card and dip the edges in some alcohol.

Step 7: Insert the business card into the slot you disconnected the ribbon cable from.

Step 8: Leave the ribbon cable to dry then clean it again with an eraser. Be careful as you do this.

Step 9: Insert the ribbon cable back into the slot.

Step 10: Position the oven back panel and brackets.

Step 11: Secure them with the screws.

Step 12: Plug the oven back in and test it.

If that doesn’t fix the problem, you should replace the control panel. Follow these steps to replace an LG oven’s control panel…

Step 1: Switch off the circuit breaker.

Step 2: Remove the screws holding both the upper back panel and brackets underneath it.

Step 3: Disconnect the ribbon cable on the control board.

Step 4: Take out the screws which secure the control assembly.

Step 5: Move the assembly out of the way.

Step 6: Take out the screw on the right side of the control panel securing a wire retainer to it.

Step 7: Take out the two screws on the top back of the control panel.

Step 8: Go to the front of the oven and take out the screws underneath the panel.

Step 9: Remove the deflector underneath the panel.

Step 10: Lift the control panel up to remove.

Step 11: Get a new control panel and position it on the oven.

Step 12: Return the deflector and screws which secure the panel.

Step 13: Also return the other two screws at the back of the control panel.

Step 14: Screw the wire retainer back.

Step 15: Align the control assembly back on the control panel.

Step 16: Hold it in place with the screws.

Step 17: Reconnect the ribbon cable to the control board.

Step 18: Return the back panel and brackets.

Step 19: Hold them in place with the screws.

Step 20: Switch the circuit breaker back on.
