If the door of your LG oven won’t lock during the self clean process, you will need to replace the lock motor. To replace the lock motor in a GE oven, follow the steps listed below…

Step 1: Turn off the oven and unplug it from the outlet.

Step 2: Pull the oven away from the wall to access the back.

Step 3: Take out all the screws which hold the back panel of the oven in place.

Step 4: Remove the back panel and set it aside.

Step 5: Disconnect the wires connected to the lock motor. Make sure to remember where each wire goes. You could take a picture to help you remember where the wires go.

Step 6: Take out the screws which hold the lock motor in place. There should be three screws.

Step 7: Lift the lock motor and carefully pull it away from the small rod.

Step 8: Get a new lock motor.

Step 9: Insert the rod into the lock motor.

Step 10: Position the lock motor on the oven and hold it in place using the three screws you removed earlier.

Step 11: Reconnect the wires to the lock motor. Make sure you connect the wire to the right places.

Step 12: Reposition the panel on the back of the oven.

Step 13: Hold the panel in place using the screws.

Step 14: Push the oven back to its usual position.

Step 15: Plug the oven back in.
