4. Temperature Sensor

Step 1: Pull the oven away from the wall.

Step 2: Unplug the oven’s power cord from the outlet.

Step 1: Pull the oven away from the wall.

Step 2: Go to the oven’s rear and unplug the power cord from the outlet to avoid the risk of electrocution.

Step 3: If your oven uses gas, shut off the gas supply as well.

Step 4: Using a Philips head screwdriver, take out the screws which hold the oven’s lower rear panel in place.

Step 5: Lift the panel off and set it aside.

Step 6: Disconnect the wire plug from the sensor. You should see the sensor on the left.

Step 7: Take out the Philips head screw which holds the sensor to the oven’s rear.

Step 8: Pull out the sensor from the oven.

5. Thermostat

If your oven doesn’t use a temperature sensor and it doesn’t maintain the temperature, the thermostat should be replaced. Below, we have listed the steps you need to follow in order to replace the thermostat in your Magic Chef oven…

Step 1: First, locate the oven’s circuit breaker.

Step 2: Switch the circuit breaker off to avoid the risk of electrocution.

Step 3: Open the door of the oven.

Step 4: Using a Philips head screwdriver, take out the screws on the sides of the oven’s frame which hold it to the cabinet.

Step 5: Shut the oven door and lift it out of the cabinet.

Step 6: Set the oven on a sturdy cloth lined surface.

Step 7: Pull off the control knobs and take out the screws on the top of the oven which hold the trim in place.

Step 8: Remove the top trim and set it aside.

Step 9: Lift the front panel off.

Step 10: Slide the indicator light off the front panel.

Step 11: Disconnect the wires from the light switch on the front panel.

Step 12: Set the front panel aside.

Step 13: Take out the screws which hold the front panel’s black housing in place.

Step 14: Take out the screws which hold the selector switch and thermostat to the black housing.

Step 15: Lift the housing and disconnect the wires from the clock control. Make sure to note where the wires go on the clock control.

Step 16: Take a picture of the thermostat to note where each wire goes.

Step 17: Using a pair of needle nose pliers, disconnect the wires from the thermostat.

Step 18: Go to the oven interior and lift the thermostat rod off the mounting clips. The rod is on the oven’s back wall. You may need to slide out the oven racks to do this.

Step 19: Pass the rod through the hole in the oven’s rear.

Step 20: Go to the oven’s rear and take out the Philips head screw which holds the retainer of the thermostat’s wire in place. If there isn’t a wire retainer, skip this step.

Step 21: Take out the screws which hold the oven’s top cover in place.

Step 22: Fully remove the thermostat.

Step 23: Get a new thermostat for your Magic Chef oven.

Step 24: Pass the thermostat rod through the hole in the oven’s rear.

Step 25: Return the screws which hold the oven’s top cover in place.

Step 26: Screw back the wire retainer of the thermostat.

Step 27: Go to the oven interior.

Step 28: Sit the thermostat rod on the clips in the oven.

Step 29: Slide the racks back into the oven.

Step 30: Connect the wires to the thermostat making sure that each one goes to the right place.

Step 31: Take the front panel housing back to the oven and connect the wires back to the clock control.

Step 32: Screw the thermostat and selector switch to the the housing.

Step 33: Position the housing on the oven and hold it in place with the Philips head screws.

Step 34: Take the front panel back to the oven.

Step 35: Connect the wires to the front panel.

Step 36: Slide the indicator light back onto the panel.

Step 37: Position the panel and top trim on the oven.

Step 38: Hold the top trim in place with the Philips head screws.

Step 39: Push the control knobs back into place.

Step 40: Lift the oven up and push it back into the cabinet.

Step 41: Open the oven door.

Step 42: Secure the sides of the oven to the cabinet using the Philips head screws.

Step 43: Shut the oven door.

Step 44: Switch the oven’s circuit breaker back on.

How To Calibrate Magic Chef Oven Temperature
