Step 3: Take out the screws at the top of the oven which hold the trim in place.

Step 4: Remove the top trim and set it aside.

4. Door Light Switch

The door light switch does the same job as the light switch and it is used in some Maytag ovens. If the door light switch fails, your Maytag oven light won’t work. Below are the steps you need to follow in order to replace your Maytag oven door light switch…

Step 1: Pull the oven away from the wall.

Step 2: Unplug the oven’s power cord from the outlet.

Step 3: Go to the oven’s rear and take out the screws which hold the upper and lower back panels in place.

Step 4: Lift the panels off and set them aside.

Step 5: Lift the stove top.

Step 6: Take out the screws which hold the metal cover on the top of the oven.

Step 7: Lift the metal cover up.

Step 8: Bend the rod on the right side of the oven to remove the end from the hole in the oven’s front frame.

Step 9: Go to the oven’s rear and disconnect the wire plug from the door light switch.

Step 10: Get a multimeter and use it to test the door light switch. If there is no continuity, the door light switch should be replaced.

Step 11: Squeeze the tabs on the door light switch and push it out.

Step 12: Unhook the rod from the switch and get a new one.

Step 13: Hook the rod onto the new switch.

Step 14: Push the switch into place.

Step 15: Connect the wire plug to the switch.

Step 16: Reposition the oven’s back panels and hold them in place with the screws.

Step 17: Push the rod back into the oven’s front frame.

Step 18: Lower the metal cover and hold it in place with the screws.

Step 19: Lower the stove top as well.

Step 20: Plug the oven’s power cord back in.

Step 5: Use a Philips head screwdriver to take out the five screws at the bottom of your oven door. Depending on your oven model, the screws could be more or less than this.

Step 6: Remove the two side trims from the door and set them aside.

Step 7: Using a 5/16th inch nut driver, take out the two screws on the sides of the oven door. There is one screw on each side.

Step 8: Lift the inner door off the outer one.

Step 9: Take out the four screws which hold the two door hinges in place using a Philips head screwdriver.

Step 10: Remove the door hinges and get new ones.

Step 11: Position the new door hinges in the oven door.

Step 12: Hold the door hinges in place using the four Philips head screws.

Step 13: Return the other two screws and tighten them with the 5/16th inch nut driver.

Step 14: Lift the inner door and position it on the outer one.

Step 15: Reposition the two side trims.

Step 16: Return the screws at the bottom of the oven door.

Step 17: Lift the oven door.

Step 18: Position the hinges into the slots on the sides of the oven.

Step 19: Open the door fully and flip the hinge locks back.

Step 20: Close the oven door and plug the oven back in.
