If your Samsung oven keypad is not working, it’s either because of a faulty touchpad or control board. Below we have listed how to replace these two components in a Samsung oven.

1. The Touchpad

This is the most likely reason your Samsung oven keypad is not working. Follow the steps listed below in order to replace your Samsung oven touchpad…

Step 1: To avoid electrocution, disconnect the power supply to your oven. You can do this by unplugging the power cord from the outlet.

Step 2: Turn the oven around to gain access to the rear.

Step 3: Take out the screws which secure the upper back panel using a Philips head screwdriver.

Step 4: Remove the panel.

Step 5: On the control board, you will see a ribbon cable. Lift the plastic tabs up and pull out the cable.

Step 6: Go to the front of the oven.

Step 7: Remove the two screws which secure the heat deflector under the control panel.

Step 8: Take out the screws which secure the control board and plastic frame.

Step 9: Take out the screw which secures the green grounding wire next to the spark module on the right.

Step 10: Remove the screws which secure the spark module and move it aside.

Step 11: Take out the four screws which hold the control panel to the frame. There will be two screws on each side.

Step 12: Lift the control panel off and set it on a cloth lined surface.

Step 13: Remove the three screws on the control panel holding a rectangular metal plate in place.

Step 14: Mark the edges of the touchpad on the metal plate then peel it off.

Step 15: Get a new touchpad and peel off the adhesive backing.

Step 16: Stick the new touchpad on the metal plate making sure that it is properly aligned.

Step 17: Screw the metal plate to the control panel.

Step 18: Position the control panel on the oven frame and secure it with the four screws.

Step 19: Screw the grounding wire back into place.

Step 20: Position the spark module on the control panel and hold it in place with the screws.

Step 21: Screw the control board and plastic plate back to the oven.

Step 22: Return the heat deflector and hold it in place with the screws.

Step 23: Insert the ribbon cable back into the plastic tab.

Step 24: Push the tab down to hold the cable in place.

Step 25: Align the back panel of the oven and hold it in place with the screws.

Step 26: Reconnect the power to the oven.

2. The Control Board

Step 2: Turn the oven around to access the back.

Step 3: Take out the Philips head screws which secure the upper rear panel of the oven.

Step 4: Remove the panel.

Step 5: Lift the plastic tab up and pull out the ribbon cable on the control board.

Step 6: Take out the screws which secure the control board to the black plastic frame on the oven’s control panel.

Step 7: Take a picture of where the wires go on the control board then disconnect them.

Step 8: Get a new control board and position it on the plastic frame.

Step 9: Hold the control board in place with the screws.

Step 10: Reconnect all the wires to the control board.

Step 11: Insert the ribbon cable back in the plastic tab.

If your Samsung microwave oven keypad is not working, follow these steps to fix it…

Step 1: Unplug the microwave’s power cord from the outlet.

Step 2: Open the microwave door.

Step 3: Take out the screws at the top of the microwave which hold the front vent in place. There will be either two or three screws.

Step 4: Lift the front vent off and set it aside.

Step 5: On the left side of the control panel, there will be one Philips head screw. Take out the screw to release the panel.

Step 6: On some models, another screw will be located behind the panel. Take out the other screw behind the control panel if there is one.

Step 7: Lift the control panel up then out.

Step 8: Unscrew the grounding wire from the control panel.

Step 9: Note where each wire goes on the control board then disconnect them. You can take a picture to make it easier.

Step 10: Connected to the control board, you will see a green ribbon cable. Pull the plastic tabs up and pull out the cable.

Step 11: Using an eraser, clean the ends on the ribbon cable.

Step 12: Dip a cotton swab into some alcohol and clean the cable.

Step 13: Once it is dry, insert it back into the plastic tab.

Step 14: Push the tab down to hold the ribbon cable in place.

Step 15: Reconnect all the wires to the control board.

Step 16: Screw the grounding wire back to the control panel.

Step 17: Insert the tabs on the control panel into the slots on the microwave.

Step 18: Secure the control panel assembly using the screw or screws.

Step 19: Return the front vent and the screws which hold it in place.

Step 3: Open the oven door and remove the front grille.

Step 4: Take out the screw on the left side of the control panel. If there is another screw behind the panel, take it out as well.

Step 6: Lower the control panel down.

Step 7: Unscrew the grounding wire from the control panel using a Philips head screwdriver.

Step 8: Take a picture of where the wires go on the control board.

Step 9: Disconnect the wires from the control board.

Step 10: Get a new control panel assembly and take it to the microwave oven.

Step 11: Using the picture you took earlier for reference, reconnect all the wires to the control board on the panel.

Step 12: Insert the plastic tabs into the slots on the sides of the microwave.

Step 13: Secure the panel using the screw or screws depending on how many you took out earlier.

Step 14: Return the front grille and the screws which secure it.

Step 15: Close the microwave door.

Step 16: Switch on the circuit breaker or plug the microwave back in.
