Samsung Oven Light Won’t Turn On — How To Fix

If your Samsung oven light is not working, there are three possible reasons. We have listed them below and how to fix them.

1. The Light Bulb

A faulty bulb is the most likely reason your Samsung oven light won’t turn on. Below are the steps you need to follow in order to replace a Samsung oven light bulb…

Step 1: First, disconnect the power to the oven by unplugging the power cord or switching the circuit breaker off.

Step 2: Open the oven door.

Step 3: Slide out the racks in the oven.

Step 4: Turn the light bulb cover counterclockwise. The light bulb cover is on the back wall of the oven.

Step 5: Unscrew the light bulb and get a new one.

Step 6: Screw the new light bulb into place.

Step 7: Return the light bulb cover.

Step 8: Slide the racks back into the oven and close the door.

Step 9: Plug the oven’s power cord back in or switch the circuit breaker back on.

2. The Light Socket

If your Samsung oven light won’t turn on after replacing the bulb, the light socket may be faulty. Below are the steps you need to follow in order to replace the light socket of your Samsung oven…

Step 1: To avoid electrocution, disconnect the oven’s power supply by unplugging the power cord.

Step 2: Go to the rear of the oven and take out the Philips head screws which secure the lower back panel.

Step 3: Remove the panel.

Step 4: Disconnect the wires from the light socket and test it using a multimeter. If there is no continuity, the socket is faulty and should be replaced.

Step 5: Open the oven door and slide out the racks.

Step 6: Remove the light cover by turning it counterclockwise.

Step 7: Unscrew the light bulb as well.

Step 8: Bend back the metal tabs of the light socket using a flat head screwdriver. Have someone stay at the rear of the oven and push the light socket while you do this.

Step 9: Remove the light socket and get a replacement.

Step 10: Push in the new light socket.

Step 11: Screw the light bulb and cover back into place.

Step 12: Slide the racks back into the oven and close the door.

Step 13: Reconnect the wires to the light socket.

Step 14: Position the oven’s back panel and hold it in place with the screws.

Step 15: Plug the oven’s power cord back into the outlet.

3. The Control Board

If your Samsung oven light cover is stuck, follow these steps to remove it…

Step 1: Switch your oven’s circuit breaker off.

Step 2: Open the oven door and slide out the racks.

Step 3: Wrap an oil filter wrench around the light cover and turn counterclockwise while applying some pressure to it.

Step 4: Once you feel the cover loosen, remove the wrench and unscrew it.

If your Samsung oven light won’t turn off or the light flickers, follow these steps to test and replace your Samsung oven’s door switch…

Step 1: Disconnect the power to the oven by unplugging the power cord from the outlet.

Step 2: Remove the screws which hold the oven’s lower back panel using a  Philips head screwdriver.

Step 3: Remove the panel.

Step 4: On the door latch assembly, you will see the door switch. Disconnect the wire harness connected to the door switch.

Step 5: Test the switch for continuity using a multimeter. If there is no continuity, the door switch should be replaced.

Step 6: Take out the two screws which hold the door switch to the door latch assembly.

Step 7: Get a replacement switch and screw it to the door latch assembly.

Step 8: Reconnect the wire harness.

Step 9: Reposition the back panel and secure with the screws.

Step 10: Plug the oven back in.

If your Samsung oven door switch isn’t faulty bur your light flickers or won’t turn off, it may be because the door doesn’t close properly. Try pushing the door closed. If it doesn’t close completely, follow these steps to replace the door hinges…

Step 1: First disconnect the power to the oven by unplugging the power cord.

Step 2: Open the door flip the catches on the hinges forward with a flat head screwdriver.

Step 3: Push the door forward till it stops.

Step 4: Lift the door up, tilt it in, and remove it.

Step 5: Set the door on a cloth lined surface.

Step 6: Take out the Philips head screws at the top and bottom of the oven door.

Step 7: Separate the inner door assembly from the outer one.

Step 8: Take out the screws on the inner door assembly which hold the door hinges in place.

Step 9: Remove the door hinges and get replacements.

Step 10: Screw the new door hinges to the inner door assembly.

Step 11: Position the inner door assembly on the outer one and return the screws at the top and bottom which secure it.

Step 12: Insert the hinges into the slots on each side of the oven.

Step 13: Lower the door and flip back the catches.

Step 14: Close the door and plug the oven’s power cord back in.
