Sharp Microwave Is Not Working

If your Sharp microwave is not working, it could be the result of a faulty line fuse, control board, or door switch. We are going to talk about these components and how to fix them.

The Line Fuse

The first reason your Sharp microwave is not working may be because of a blown line fuse. To replace the line fuse in a Sharp microwave, do the following…

Step 1: Turn off and unplug the microwave.

Step 2: Take out the screws at the back of the microwave which hold its cover in place.

Step 3: The fuse will be at the left side of the microwave close to the power cord. Lift the cover up slightly to gain access to the line fuse.

Step 4: Detach the fuse from the holder.

Step 5: Using a multimeter, test the fuse for continuity. If there is none, replace the line fuse.

Step 6: Place the new fuse in the holder and reposition the microwave cover.

Step 7: Return the screws to hold the microwave cover in place.

Step 4: Be careful not to touch the capacitor in the microwave as it holds a dangerous amount of energy that could cause injury or death.

Step 5: Behind the control panel, somewhere at the right, there will be a sheet metal piece bent over the tab of the panel. Bend it in the opposite direction.

Step 6: Open the microwave door.

Step 7: Lift the control panel up then take it out.

Step 8: Note where each wire goes on the control board then disconnect them. Take a picture to make it easier.

Step 9: Disconnect the ribbon connector connected to the control panel.

Step 10: Take out the screws that secure the control board to the control panel.

Step 11: Lift the control board out.

Step 12: Get a new control board and secure it to the control panel with the screws.

Step 13: Reconnect the ribbon connector.

Step 14: Take the control panel back to the microwave and reconnect all the wires to the right places.

Step 15: Push the control panel back in and bend the metal sheet piece to secure the tab.

Step 16: Return the microwave cover and hold it in place with the screws.
