Step 23: Insert the hinges into the slots in the sides of the oven’s frame.

Step 25: Flip the hinges back to hold the door in place.

2. Door Gasket

1. Inner Glass

Below, we have listed the steps you need to follow in order to replace the inner glass of your Tappan oven door…

Step 1: Go to the oven’s rear.

Step 2: Unplug the oven’s power cord from the outlet to avoid the risk of electrocution.

Step 3: Open the oven door.

Step 4: Flip the latches on the door hinges towards yourself. You can do this using a flat blade screwdriver.

Step 5: Close the door till you feel it stop.

Step 6: Grip the sides of the door and lift it off the oven.

Step 7: Place the door on a sturdy surface lined with a cloth.

Step 8: Using a Philips head screwdriver, take out the two screws at the top of the door which hold the handle in place.

Step 9: Lift the handle off the door and set it aside.

Step 10: Take out the screws on the sides of the door which hold the two hinges in place. There are four screws.

Step 18: Lift the metal panel off the door assembly and set it aside.

Step 19: With gloves on for safety, remove the broken pieces of glass from the door assembly and discard.

Step 20: Get a new inner glass for your Tappan oven door.

Step 21: Position the glass on the inner door assembly.

Step 22: Reposition the metal panel on the door assembly.

Step 23: Return the screws at the top and bottom of the metal assembly which secure it.

Step 24: Position the side bracket back on the inner door assembly.

Step 25: Hold the side bracket in place with the screws.

Step 26: Position the hinges on the inner door assembly.

Step 27: Hold the hinges in place with the four screws.

Step 28: Reposition the inner door on the outer door assembly.

Step 29: Return the screws at the bottom of the door which hold the two assemblies in place.

Step 31: Hold the handle in place with the two screws.

Step 32: Lift the door up.

Step 33: Insert the hinges into the slots in the sides of the oven.

Step 35: Flip the latches back to hold the door in place.

Step 36: Shut the oven door.

Step 37: Plug the oven’s power cord back into the outlet.
