How to Replace a Whirlpool Microwave Door

To replace a Whirlpool microwave door, do the following…

Step 1: Turn off your microwave.

Step 2: Using a screwdriver, take out the screws which hold the front grille in place.

Step 3: Take out the front grille.

Step 4: Open the microwave door.

Step 5: Use a screwdriver to take out the mounting pin on the upper door hinge.

Step 6: Lift the door out.

Step 7: Remove the protective covering from the new door assembly.

Step 8: Align the assembly on the hinges.

Step 9: Secure it with the mounting pin.

Step 10: Return the front grille and hold it in place with the screws.

Step 11: Plug the microwave back in.

Whirlpool Microwave Bad Door Switch

To replace a bad door switch in a Whirlpool microwave, do the following…

Step 1: Turn off and unplug the microwave.

Step 2: Take out the three screws which hold the front grille in place. If your microwave is a different model, there might be two or four screws.

Step 3: Remove the front grille.

Step 4: Use a screwdriver to take out the screw which holds the control panel in place.

Step 5: Lift the control panel up then lower it down.

Step 6: Move the control panel to the side.

Step 7: Use a T10 torx bit to take out the screw which secures the door switch holder to the frame.

Step 8: Release the latch with a flathead screwdriver to take out the door switch holder.

Step 9: Use needle nose pliers to remove the interlock spring.

Step 10: Detach the switch from the holder.

Step 11: Press the button on the door switch. If the door switch is really faulty, the button on it will be loose. However, if the door switch is good, you will hear a strong click when you press the button.

Step 12: Do this same test with the other switches

Step 13: Disconnect the wires from the faulty switch.

Step 14: Get a new door switch and connect the wires to it.

Step 15: Snap it back into the door switch holder.

Step 16: Reposition the interlock spring.

Step 17: Align the door switch holder on the frame and hold it in place with the screw.

Step 18: Push the control panel back in and return the screw at the top.

Step 19: Realign the front grille and hold it in place with the screws.

Step 20: Plug the microwave back in.

Whirlpool Microwave Door Handle Repair

To replace your Whirlpool microwave door handle, do the following…

Step 1: Unplug the microwave.

Step 2: Next, take out all the screws which hold the microwave’s grille in place.

Step 3: Pull the grille out.

Step 4: Using a screwdriver, take out the mounting pin which secures the upper door hinge to the door.

Step 5: Lift the door out.

Step 6: Place the door on a sturdy surface.

Step 7: Using a putty knife, pry out the trim around the door.

Step 8: Use a screwdriver to take out the two screws that secure the inner and outer door panel.

Step 9: Using a flathead screwdriver, depress the tabs which secure the inner panel.

Step 10: Take out the inner panel.

Step 11: Take out the two screws which hold the door handle in place.

Step 12: Remove the old door handle and get a new one.

Step 13: Screw the new door handle to the door.

Step 14: Align the inner panel and snap it back into place.

Step 15: Hold it in place using the screws.

Step 16: Align the door trim and snap it into place.

Step 17: Screw the microwave door back to the upper door hinge.

Step 18: Push the microwave grille back in and hold it in place with the screw.

Step 19: Plug the microwave back in.

Whirlpool Microwave Door Handle Loose — How To Fix

If your Whirlpool microwave door handle is loose, you will need to tighten it. To tighten the door handle of your Whirlpool microwave, follow the steps listed below.

Step 1: Unplug the microwave.

Step 2: Take out the screws which hold the front vent of the microwave in place.

Step 3: Pull out the front vent.

Step 4: Take out the screw on the door hinge which secures the door to the microwave.

Step 5: Lift the door off.

Step 6: Place the door on a towel lined surface.

Step 7: Using a putty knife or flat blade screwdriver, pry off the door trim.

Step 8: Take out the screws which secure the inner door panel to the outer one. There will be two screws.

Step 9: Use a flat blade screwdriver to carefully pry off the inner door panel from the outer one.

Step 10: Now tighten the screws which secure the door handle.

Step 11: Reposition the inner door panel on the outer one and hold it in place with the two screws.

Step 12: Position the door trim and snap it into place.

Step 13: Position the door on the hinges.

Step 14: Return the screw which secures it.

Step 15: Return the front vent and the screws which hold it in place.

Step 16: Plug the microwave back in.

Whirlpool Microwave Door ActuatorHow To Replace

To replace a Whirlpool microwave door actuator, follow the steps below…

Step 1: First, unplug the microwave to avoid the risk of electrocution.

Step 2: Take out the screws at the top of the microwave front grille. There will be either two or three screws.

Step 3: Remove the front grille and set it aside.

Step 4: Take out the screws right above the control panel.

Step 5: Open the microwave door.

Step 6: Grip the sides of the control panel and lift it up.

Step 7: Disconnect the wires connected to the control board making sure to note where each one goes. Take a picture to make it easier.

Step 8: Take out the screw which secures one of the wires to the control panel.

Step 9: Set the control panel aside.

Step 10: Take out the screws which hold the plastic backing of the control panel in place.

Step 11: Unhook the wires from the control panel backing.

Step 12: Take out the screw which holds the interlock support in place using a screwdriver. The screw at the top holds the first interlock support in place and the screw at the bottom holds the second one in place.

Step 13: Using a flat blade screwdriver, release the interlock support from the microwave frame.

Step 14: Remove the tension spring on the interlock support using a pair of pliers.

Step 15: Turn the door actuator counterclockwise and take it out.

Step 16: Get a new latch actuator and position it on the interlock support.

Step 17: Turn the actuator clockwise to secure.

Step 18: Reinsert the tension spring.

Step 19: Position the interlock support on the microwave frame and push it into place.

Step 20: Return the screw which secures it.

Step 21: Attach the wires back to the control panel backing.

Step 22: Screw the backing into place.

Step 23: Screw the wire back to the control panel.

Step 24: Reconnect all the wires to the control board.

Step 25: Push the control panel back into place and return the screw which secures it.

Step 26: Return the front grille and the screws which hold it in place.

Step 27: Plug the microwave back in.

Whirlpool Microwave Door Message

How Do You Unlock a Whirlpool Microwave
