Whirlpool Oven Control Panel Not Working — How To Fix
If your Whirlpool oven control panel is not working, the overlay should be replaced. Below, we have listed the steps you need to follow in order to replace the overlay of your Whirlpool oven…
Step 1: Pull the oven away from the wall.
Step 2: Unplug the oven’s power cord from the outlet to avoid the risk of electrocution.
Step 3: Using a Philips head screwdriver, take out the screws which hold the oven’s lower back panel in place.
Step 4: Set the lower panel aside and take out the screws which hold the upper back panel aside.
Step 5: Set the panel aside as well.
Step 6: Disconnect the ribbon cable connected to the control board.
Step 7: Using the Philips head screwdriver, take out the screws which hold the main control board to the oven.
Step 8: Take out the screw which holds the spark module board to the right side of the control panel.
Step 9: Go to the front of the oven and take out the two screws underneath the control panel which hold it in place. There is one screw on each side.
Step 10: Lift the control panel off the oven frame.
Step 11: Lift the spark module board mounting plate from the control panel by bending the tabs a bit.
Step 12: Pull the bottom of the control panel and lift off the overlay assembly.
Step 13: Get a new overlay.
Step 14: Position the overlay on the control panel and push it down.
Step 15: Reposition the spark module board plate on the control panel.
Step 16: Place the control panel assembly back on the oven frame and secure it using the two Philips head screws.
Step 17: Screw the spark module board back to the control panel.
Step 18: Screw the main control board back to the control panel as well.
Step 19: Reconnect the ribbon cable to the main control board.
Step 20: Reposition the upper and lower back panels of the oven.
Step 21: Secure the panels with the screws.
Step 22: Plug the oven’s power cord back in and return the oven to its usual position.

Step 1: Pull the oven away from the wall.
Step 2: Unplug the oven’s power cord from the outlet for safety.
Step 3: Using a Philips head screwdriver, take out the screws which hold the oven’s upper back panel in place.
Step 4: Lift the panel off and set it aside.
Step 5: Note where each wire goes on the control board by taking a picture.
Step 6: Disconnect the wires from the control board.
Step 7: Take out the Philips head screws which hold the control board in place.
Step 8: Get a heat gun.
Step 9: Use the heat gun to melt the glue which helps the overlay stick to the control board. Do not place the heat gun too close to the control board as it could damage it.
Step 10: Pry the overlay off the control board using a putty knife.
Step 11: Get a new overlay.
Step 12: Peel off the backing from the new overlay.
Step 13: Stick the overlay to the control board.
Step 14: Screw the control board back to the oven.
Step 15: Reconnect the wires to the control board using the picture you took for reference.
Step 16: Reposition the oven’s upper back panel.
Step 17: Hold the panel in place with the Philips head screws.
Step 18: Plug the oven’s power cord back into the outlet.
Step 19: Return the oven to its usual position.

Step 7: Disconnect the wires from the control board.

Step 10: Stick the overlay to the new control board.
Step 11: Take the new control board to the oven and connect the wires to it. Make sure each wire goes to the right place or the control board won’t function.
Step 12: Secure the control board to the oven with the screws.
Step 13: Reposition the oven’s upper back panel and hold it in place with the screws.
Step 14: Plug the oven’s power cord back in and push the oven back to the wall.
