Whirlpool Oven Thermal Fuse Keeps Blowing — How To Fix

There are three possible reasons why your Whirlpool oven fuse keeps blowing. Below, we talk about them and how to fix them.

1. Control Board

The thermal fuse burns out when exposed to high temperatures. So, if you notice that your oven is getting way hotter than the set temperature, the control board is probably faulty. If you would like to replace the control board in your Whirlpool oven, read this article: Whirlpool Oven Control [Problems & Proven Solutions]

2. Cooling Fan

The cooling fan turns on to prevent the oven from overheating. If the oven overheats, it could cause the thermal fuse to blow. If your oven isn’t exceeding the set temperature but the fuse keeps blowing, you should test and maybe replace the cooling fan. Note that replacing the cooling fan in a Whirlpool oven is complicated. So, if you aren’t at all experienced with ovens, it would be best to contact a technician. However, if you are sure of your abilities, read this article: Whirlpool Oven Noise [Proven Solutions] to replace the cooling fan in your Whirlpool oven.

3. Heating Element

If your Whirlpool oven fuse blows when the oven isn’t even on, the problem is most likely from the heating element. If the heating element shorts out, it will keep heating even when the oven is off causing it to overheat. To test if your heating element is shorting out, read this article: Whirlpool Oven Heating Problems [Proven Solutions]

Step 3: Get a multimeter.

Step 4: If you are using an analog multimeter, turn the dial to the lowest ohms setting and touch the probes together while adjusting the needle on the display to 0. If you are using a digital multimeter, simply turn the dial to the lowest ohms setting.

Step 5: Touch the multimeter probes to the terminals of the thermal fuse. If the multimeter display shows 0 ohms, the thermal fuse is still good. If the display of the multimeter doesn’t change at all, the thermal fuse is faulty and should be replaced. Get a new Whirlpool oven fuse.
