Whirlpool Oven Locked After Self Cleaning — How To Fix
It’s normal for your Whirlpool oven to stay locked after self cleaning. However, if the oven cools down completely and the door still hasn’t unlocked, the door lock motor is faulty. Below, we have listed the steps you need to follow in order to replace your Whirlpool oven lock motor…
Step 1: Pull the oven away from the wall.
Step 2: Unplug the oven’s power cord from the outlet.
Step 3: Using a Philips head screwdriver, take out the screws which hold the lower back panel of the oven.
Step 4: Lift the panel off and set it aside.
Step 5: Also take out the screws which hold the upper back panel of the oven in place as well.
Step 6: Set the panel aside as well.
Step 7: Note where each wire goes on the door lock motor. If you can’t remember where each one goes, take a picture.
Step 8: Disconnect the wires from the lock motor.
Step 9: Detach the lock motor from the rod.
Step 10: Get a new lock motor.
Step 11: Insert the rod into the new door lock motor.
Step 12: Secure the lock motor to the oven using the screws.
Step 13: Reconnect the wires to the lock motor making sure that each one goes to the right place.
Step 14: Reposition the oven’s upper back panel and secure with the screws.
Step 15: Return the lower back panel and hold it in place with the screws.
Step 16: Plug the oven’s power cord back into the outlet.
Step 17: Push the oven back to the wall.

Step 1: Press and hold the “Start” button on the oven’s control panel for 3 seconds. If your oven has a “Control lock” button, hold down this button for three seconds. The oven control panel and door will lock when this feature is selected.
Step 2: To unlock, also hold down the “Start” button for 3 seconds. Hold down the “Control lock” button for three seconds if your oven model has it.
