Sharp Microwave is Not Heating [How to Fix]

There are some problems we experience with our microwaves these days. One problem we know well, is the microwave not being able to heat. So if your Sharp microwave is not heating, we are going to show you thinks to do to fix that.

Sharp Microwave Is Not Heating Food

Your Sharp microwave may have stopped heating food because the fuse or door switch is faulty. In some situations, you may need to replace more than one component in the microwave. So, to know which one or ones to replace, keep reading.

The Door Switch

If your Sharp microwave is not heating, you will need to check and maybe replace the door switch. To replace the door switch, do the following…

Step 1: First turn the power to the microwave off and unplug it.

Step 2: Take out the screws at the back of the microwave to be able to remove the microwave cover.

Step 3: Slide and lift the microwave cover out and set aside.

Step 4: Behind the control panel, you will see three door switches (one at the bottom, one in the middle and one at the top).

Step 5: Take out the screws that hold the door switch holder in place.

Step 6: Remove each switch from the holder and note where each one goes.

Step 7: In order to find out if the door switch is faulty or not, press the small button on it. If there is a strong click, the switch is still good, so place it back in the holder. If the button feels loose when you press it, the switch is faulty.

Step 8: Disconnect the wires connected to the fuse and keep in mind where each one goes.

Step 9: Get a new door switch and connect the wires to the right places.

Step 10: Place the switch back in the holder.

Step 11: Put the door switch holder back and screw it into place.

Step 12: Align the microwave cover back on the microwave and secure the back and sides with the screws.

Step 13: Plug the microwave back in and place a cup of water inside.

Step 14: Set the microwave on high for one minute.

Sep 15: After one minute, take out the water. If it is hot, you have fixed the problem. However, if your Sharp microwave is not heating after this, it might be because of a blown fuse.

The Line Fuse

To check and replace the fuse in a Sharp microwave, follow these steps…

Step 1: Start by turning the microwave off and unplugging it from the socket.

Step 2: Take out the screws around the back of the microwave to be able to lift up the cover.

Step 3: If you are standing behind the microwave, the fuse is on the left at the bottom. Take it out of the holder. If you notice that it looks or smells burnt, you will need to replace it.

Step 4: Get a new fuse and place it in the holder.

Step 5: Screw the back of the cover back.
