How To Replace GE Oven Inner Door Glass

To replace the inner door glass of a GE oven, follow the steps listed below…

Step 1: Unplug the oven.

Step 2: Open the oven door and flip the clips on the door hinges.

Step 3: Close the oven but not completely

Step 4: Lift the oven door off and place it on a flat and sturdy surface lined with a towel or cloth.

Step 5: Remove the two screws at the top of the oven door on the other side of the door handle.

Step 6: Remove the other two screws at the bottom of the oven door.

Step 7: Remove the inner door assembly from the outer one.

Step 8: Take out the six screws securing the two hinges of the oven door. There will be three screws securing each one.

Step 9: Remove the door hinges.

Step 10: Flip the door over.

Step 11: Take out the screws which secure the insulation cover.

Step 12: Remove the old inner door glass or whatever pieces are remaining.

Step 13: Get a new inner door glass and position it in the insulation.

Step 14: Reposition the insulation cover and hold it in place using the screws.

Step 15: Turn the oven door over again and reposition the door hinges.

Step 16: Hold the hinges in place with the six screws.

Step 17: Reposition the inner door assembly on the outer one.

Step 18: Return the two screws at the top of the door and the other three at the bottom.

Step 19: Lift the oven door up and reposition it.

Step 20: Flip the clips back to secure the oven.

Step 21: Close the oven door.

Step 22: Plug the oven back in.

Step 1: Unplug the oven. Make sure to do this before performing a repair on any electrical appliance.

Step 2: Open the oven door a bit then lift it off the oven. If it doesn’t lift off, you will need to open the door fully and flip the hinge clips.

Step 3: Turn the oven door bottom side up on a towel lined surface.

Step 4: Take out the screws at the bottom.

Step 5: Remove the bottom door barrier.

Step 6: Take out the screws which hold the lower door trim in place.

Step 7: Remove the door trim.

Step 8: Slide the outer door glass out or whatever remains there are.

Step 9: Get a new outer door glass and slide it in.

Step 10: Reposition the bottom door trim and hold it in place with the screws.

Step 11: Also reposition the door barrier and return the screws which secure it.

Step 12: Reposition the door on the oven.

Step 13: If your oven has hinge clips, flip them back.

Step 14: Close the door and plug the oven back into the outlet.

Step 1: Place a towel on a sturdy surface.

Step 2: Open the door and flip the hinges locks.

Step 3: Lift the door up. If this method of removing a GE oven door doesn’t work for your model, consult the manual.

Step 4: Place the door on the towel lined surface.

Step 5: Get a container and pour some water and dishwashing soap into it.

Step 6: Dip a dishcloth into the water then wring it out.

Step 7: Get a yard stick and tie the dishcloth to it using rubber bands.

Step 8: Insert the stick into the opening underneath the door and scrub the glass. Be careful not to break the stick.

Step 9: Remove the cloth and wash it in some clean water.

Step 10: Tie it back to the stick.

Step 11: Insert the stick back into the door and clean off all the soap.

Step 12 Remove the cloth and tie a paper towel to the stick.

Step 13: Use the paper towel to dry the glass.

Step 14: Lift the door and position it back on the oven.

Step 15: Flip the hinge locks to secure the door

Step 16: Close the door.
