GE Oven Makes Buzzing Noise When Off — How To Fix
If your GE oven is making noise when it’s off, it may not actually be a problem. After using the oven, it will be quite hot. So, to prevent the oven from overheating, the cooling fan comes on as soon as the oven is off. However, it should last for only about 20-30 minutes. If it lasts longer than this, the fan or motor is probably faulty. You will need to check each component and maybe replace them.
To replace the fan in a GE oven, follow the steps listed below…
Step 1: Unplug the oven.
Step 2: Open the oven door and remove all the racks.
Step 3: Take out the four screws on the back wall of the oven interior which hold the fan cover in place.
Step 4: Now remove the fan cover.
Step 5: Take out the screw which secures the fan blade.
Step 6: Slide out the washer as well.
Step 7: Remove the fan.
Step 8: If the hole in the center of the fan is not round but “D” shaped, you will need to replace it.
Step 9: Get a new fan and position it in the oven.
Step 10: Slide the washer back and hold the fan in place with the screw.
Step 11: Align the fan cover and return the four screws which hold it in place.
Step 12: Return the oven racks.
Step 13: Close the oven door.
Step 14: Plug the oven back in.
If your GE oven is making noise still, you will need to replace the fan motor.
