To clean your oven with a store bought oven cleaner, do the following…
Step 1: Open the oven door and remove the racks.
Step 2: Put on some gloves and get the oven cleaner.
Step 3: Spray the cleaner in the oven making sure to keep your face at a distance. Also make sure not to get the cleaner on any of the heating elements.
Step 4: Leave the cleaner to sit for the time recommended on the can.
Step 5: Afterwards, wipe the oven cleaner out of the oven with paper towels. Make sure you have gloves on as you do this.
Step 6: Mix 1/3 cup vinegar with 2/3 cup water.
Step 7: Spray the mixture in the oven to rinse and get rid of any oven cleaner residue.
Step 8: Wipe the oven with a cloth.
Step 9: Slide the racks back into the oven.

Step 2: Pour the baking soda in a bowl and slowly add water to it to form a paste.
Step 3: Use a sponge or brush to apply the paste on the oven walls.
Step 4: Leave the paste to sit for 4 hours. If you can, leave it overnight.
Step 5: After spray some vinegar in the oven.
Step 6: Scrub the oven with a sponge and wipe with paper towels.
Step 7: Spray a mixture of vinegar and water on the oven walls to rinse.

2. Oven Cleaner Residue
The second possible reason your oven is smoking may not be because it’s dirty but because there is some residue from the oven cleaner you used to clean it earlier. If you have cleaned your oven recently with a store bought oven cleaner, this is most likely the case. To get rid of the residue, you will need to spray a mixture of vinegar and water all over the oven walls. Mix 1 part vinegar with 2 parts water and spray it in the oven. Afterwards, wipe the oven with a cloth.
3. Food Too Close To Heating Element
If your oven isn’t dirty and it doesn’t have any oven cleaner residue, the next thing you should check is that you’re not placing your food to close to the broil element. If you place your food too close to the broil element, it will cause the oven to smoke. Make sure your food is at least 3 inches away from the broil element. 4. Failing Heating Element Or Elements
If one of the heating elements in an oven start to fail, it could start smoking. Turn your oven on and inspect both the bake and broil elements. Step 1: Unplug the oven’s power cord for safety and and open the oven door.
Step 2: Remove the racks from the oven to make it easier to access the bake element.
Step 3: Remove the screws holding the oven’s bottom panel with a Philips head screwdriver.
Step 4: Lift the panel out of the oven.
Step 5: Take out the screws holding the bake element in place.
Step 6: Disconnect the wires from the bake element and get a new one.
Step 7: Connect the wires to the new bake element.
Step 8: Screw the bake element into place.
Step 9: Reposition the oven’s bottom panel and hold it in place with the screws.
Step 10: Return the oven racks and shut the door.
