Frigidaire Microwave Turns On/Off [Problems Solved]

Frigidaire Microwave Turns Off After 3 Seconds

If your microwave turns of after a few seconds, one of the door switches is faulty. To test and replace a door switch in a Frigidaire microwave, follow these steps…

Step 1: Unplug the microwave.

Step 2: Take out the screws which hold the front grille of the microwave in place. There will be two or three screws at the top.

Step 3: Open the microwave door.

Step 4: Use a putty knife to carefully pry out the front grille.

Step 5: Take out the screw behind the control panel.

Step 6: Lift the control panel up then lower it down carefully.

Step 7: Note where each wire goes on the control board then disconnect them. Take a picture to make it easier.

Step 8: Set the control panel assembly aside.

Step 9: Disconnect the wire connector connected to the door switches.

Step 10: Take out the two screws which secure the door switch holder to the frame.

Step 11: Take out the door switch holder and remove the first door switch.

Step 12: To find out if the door switch is faulty or not, press the small button on it. If you hear and feel a strong click, the door switch is still good. Return it. Click here to know more about testing a microwave door switch.

Step 13: Do this same test with the other door switches. If you press the button on one and it feels loose, it is faulty.

Step 14: Get a new door switch and place it in the holder.

Step 15: Align the door switch holder on the frame and hold it in place with the two screws.

Step 16: Reconnect the wire connectors to the door switches.

Step 17: Reconnect the wires to the right places on the control board.

Step 18: Push the control panel assembly back in.

Step 19: Secure it with the screw.

Step 20: Return the front grille and the screws at the top.

Step 21: Close the microwave door.

Step 22: Plug the microwave back in.
