Frigidaire Oven Controls Not Working — How To Fix

If your Frigidaire oven controls aren’t working, the overlay or control board is faulty. Below we have listed the steps for you to follow in order to replace your Frigidaire oven control board and overlay.

1. Overlay

To replace the overlay of your Frigidaire oven, do the following…

Step 1: Pull the oven away from the wall to access the rear.

Step 2: Switch the circuit breaker off or unplug the power cord.

Step 3: If your oven is a gas one, shut off the gas supply.

Step 4: Using a quarter inch nut driver, remove the screws which secure the upper back panel of the oven.

Step 5: Remove the panel.

Step 6: Note where each wire connects to on the control board or take a picture.

Step 7: Disconnect the wires from the control board.

Step 8: Take out the screws which hold the control board to the control panel assembly.

Step 9: Remove the control board assembly and set on a cloth lined surface.

Step 10: Using a putty knife, carefully pry off the overlay from the control board.

Step 11: Get a new overlay.

Step 12: Peel off the backing on the new overlay.

Step 13: Position the overlay on the control board and stick it into place.

Step 14: Secure the control board to the control panel assembly with the screws.

Step 15: Reconnect the wires to the control board.

Step 16: Align the panel on the oven’s rear and hold it in place with the screws.

Step 17: Plug the oven back in or switch the circuit breaker on.

Step 18: Turn on the gas supply if you turned it off earlier on.

2. Control Board

If replacing the overlay doesn’t fix the problem, the control board should be replaced. Below we show you how to replace a Frigidaire oven control board…

Step 1: Disconnect the oven’s power by unplugging the power cord or switching the circuit breaker off.

Step 2: Pull the oven away from the cabinet and take out the screws which hold its upper back panel in place. Do this with a quarter inch nut driver.

Step 3: Set the panel aside.

Step 4: Make a note of where each wire connects to on the control board. You could also take a picture.

Step 5: Take out the screws which hold the control board in place. There should be four screws.

Step 6: Disconnect the wires from the control board and place it on a cloth lined surface.

Step 7: Pry off the overlay from the control board with a putty knife.

Step 8: Get a new control board.

Step 9: Stick the overlay to the new control board.

Step 10: Take the control board back to the oven and hold it in place with the screws.

Step 11: Connect the wires to the control board using the picture you took for reference.

Step 12: Return the oven’s back panel and the screws which hold it in place.

Step 13: Plug the oven back in or switch the circuit breaker on.

Step 14: Push the oven back to the wall.

How To Test A Frigidaire Oven Control Board

To test your Frigidaire oven control board, follow the steps listed below…

Step 1: Get a multimeter.

Step 2: Turn the multimeter dial to the volt setting.

Step 3: Touch the multimeter probes to the wire connector plug on the upper right of the oven control board.

Step 4: Look at the reading on the multimeter’s display. If the reading is 120 v or very close to that, the control board should be replaced.

Frigidaire Stove Control Panel Fell In — How To Fix

If your Frigidaire stove touch control panel fell in when you pressed a button, the screws which secure it have probably come loose. Follow these steps to fix this issue…

Step 1: Unplug the oven.

Step 2: Take out the screws which hold the oven’s upper back panel with a quarter inch nut driver. There should be about six screws.

Step 3: Set the panel aside.

Step 4: Lift the control board assembly and position it back on the control panel.

Step 5: Get four screws and screw the control board back into place.

Step 6: Return the oven’s back panel and secure with the screws.

Step 7: Plug the oven back in.

If this doesn’t work, call a technician to examine the oven.

Frigidaire Oven Control Lock — How To Use

To use the Frigidaire oven control lock feature, simply hold down the “Clear/Off” button for six seconds. To unlock, hold down the same button again for six seconds.
