Step 2: Open the door of the oven.

Step 3: Flip the locks on the hinges forward with a flat head screwdriver.

Step 4: Close the door till it can’t go any further.

Step 5: Lift the door off and set it aside.

Step 6: Slide out the racks in the oven.

Step 7: Remove the screws on the oven bottom floor.

Step 8: Lift the floor panel out of the oven and set it aside.

Step 22: Secure the wires with ceramic wire nuts. Do not use plastic wire nuts or they will melt and damage the wires.

Step 23: Get the burner tube.

Step 24: Screw the igniter back to the burner tube.

Step 25: Position the burner tube in the oven.

Step 26: Return the screw underneath the oven which holds the burner tube in place.

Step 27: Reconnect the igniter wires to the oven.

Step 28: Slide the oven’s bottom drawer back in.

Step 29: Return the screw at the front of the burner tube.

Step 30: Reposition the floor panel in the oven and hold it in place with the screws.

Step 31: Slide the racks back into the oven.

Step 32: Lift the oven door and insert the hinges back into the slot on each side of the oven.

Step 24: Screw the thermoprotector to the magnetron.

Step 25: Reconnect the wires to the thermoprotector.

Step 26: Position the magnetron in the microwave and hold it in place with the screws.

5. Control Board

If you have tested all the components above and none of them was faulty, the control board is most likely the faulty component. Below are the steps for you to follow in order to replace the control board in a Hotpoint microwave…

Step 2: Remove the screws at the top of the microwave which secure the front vent.

Step 3: Open the microwave door and remove the vent.

Step 4: Take out the screw at the left side of the control panel which holds it in place. IF there is no screw at the left, there is probably one at the top.

Step 6: Note where each wire is on the control board then disconnect them. To make sure you connect the wires to the right places on the new control board, take a picture.

Step 11: Reconnect the ribbon cable to the control board.

Step 12: Connect all the wires to the right places on the control board.
