Kitchenaid Oven Self Clean Mode — How To Use

To use this Kitchenaid oven mode, follow the steps listed below…

Step 1: Open all the windows in your home.

Step 2: Open the oven door and take out the racks.

Step 3: Take out any other accessories in the oven or bottom drawer.

Step 4: Wipe off any loose food debris from the oven’s interior with a paper towel.

Step 5: Remove any pans or plastic plates from your oven cook top as it will get very hot while in use.

Step 6: Close the oven door.

Step 7: Press the “settings” button and scroll through the options to select “Self Clean”. If your oven doesn’t have a settings button, press the “Self Clean” button.

Step 8: Scroll through the options to select low, medium, or high self clean. Low runs for 3 hours, medium runs for 4 hours, and high runs for 5 hours.

Step 9: Press the “Start” button to begin. Make sure to keep kids and pets away from the oven during the self clean cycle. During the cycle, the oven will get very hot and you may see smoke. It’s also normal for you to hear a sound of metal contracting as well.

Step 10: Once the self clean cycle is done, do not try opening the door. Leave the oven to cool down.

Step 11: Once the oven has cooled down, open the door.

Step 12: Using a damp towel, wipe off the ash in the oven.

Step 13: Return the racks and any other accessories to the oven.

Step 14: Shut the door.

Note: The self clean feature works by burning off food debris and grease in the oven with high temperatures. During the cycle, the oven heats up and burns off the grease in the oven. Sometimes, after using this function, the oven won’t turn on. If this happens to you, read this article.
