Step 2: Take out the screws at the back and sides of the microwave which hold its cover in place.

Step 3: Remove the microwave cover.

Step 4: Close to the back of the microwave, you should see the line fuse in a bracket. Take it out.

Step 5: Using a multimeter, test the fuse for continuity. If there is no continuity, get a new line fuse.

Step 6: Position the line fuse in the bracket.

Step 7: Align the microwave cover and secure it with the screws.

The Capacitor

To test and replace the capacitor in a microwave, follow the steps below…

Step 1: Begin by unplugging the oven. This is to prevent the risk of electrocution.

Step 2: Take out the screws at the back and sides of the microwave. These screws hold the microwave cover in place.

Step 3: Remove the microwave cover and set it aside.

Step 4: At the bottom of the microwave, somewhere near the back, you will see the capacitor. Discharge the capacitor by placing a screwdriver with an insulated handle across the capacitor terminals.

Step 5: Once the capacitor is discharged, disconnect the wires.

Step 6: Take out the screws which secure the capacitor to the microwave.

Step 7: Using a multimeter, test the capacitor for continuity. If there is no continuity, get a new capacitor.

Step 8: Position the new capacitor in the microwave and hold it in place with the screws.

Step 9: Reconnect the wires to the capacitor.

Step 10: Reposition the microwave cover and secure with the screws.

Step 11: Plug the microwave back in.

Step 1: Turn off the microwave and unplug.

Step 2: Take out all the screws on the left side, right side, and back of the microwave to remove its cover.

Step 3: After taking out all the screws, remove the microwave cover.

Step 4: Behind the control panel you will see three door switches, take the first one out.

Step 5: To determine whether the door switch is faulty or not, press the small red button on it. if you hear a strong click, the switch is good, if not then it needs to be replaced.

Step 6: Do this same test with the other switches.

Step 7: Get a new door switch or new switches and put back into place.

Step 8: Screw the microwave cover back and plug the microwave.

Step 9: Place one cup of water in the microwave and boil on high for 1 minute. If it’s hot, you’ve fixed the problem. If after doing this your LG microwave is not heating still, you might need to replace the magnetron.

Because of how expensive the magnetron is, it might be best to get a new microwave if the magnetron is the faulty component. It is advised for you to get a technician to identify the problem so that you will know how much fixing it will cost.
