Whirlpool Oven Cooling Fan Noise — How To Fix
If your Whirlpool oven cooling fan is making noise, it has started to fail. To fix this problem, the fan motor will need to be replaced. We will show you how to replace the cooling fan in your Whirlpool electric range and your Whirlpool gas range. To replace the cooling fan in your Whirlpool electric range, follow these steps…
Step 1: Pull the oven away from the wall.
Step 2: Unplug the oven’s power cord from the outlet.
Step 3: Open the oven door.
Step 4: Get a Philips head screwdriver and use it to take out the screws underneath the oven’s front panel.
Step 5: Lift off the metal cover panel underneath the front panel.
Step 6: Now remove the screws holding the front panel itself in place. There are two screws.
Step 7: Lift the front panel and support it with some wires.
Step 8: Remove the three Philips head screws at the front of the stove top.
Step 9: Take out the other Philips head screws on the rear corners of the stove top.
Step 10: Set the stove top aside.
Step 11: Take out the four Philips head screws which hold the support panel of the stove elements. There are two screws on each side.
Step 12: Lift the panel up.
Step 13: Take out the screw on the left bracket which holds the cooling fan motor in place.
Step 14: Push the cooling fan motor back and pull it out.
Step 15: Disconnect the wires from the motor making sure to note where each one goes.
Step 16: Get a new fan motor.
Step 17: Remove the foam seal from the old fan motor and place it on the new one.
Step 18: Connect the wires to the cooling fan and position it on the mounting brackets.
Step 19: Secure the cooling fan to the bracket with the screw.
Step 20: Lower the support panel of the stove elements and hold it in place with the four screws.
Step 21: Place the stove top back on the oven and return the two screws on the rear corners which hold it in place.
Step 22: Return the three Philips head screws at the front of the stove top which secure it.
Step 23: Reposition the oven’s front panel and hold it in place with the screws.
Step 24: Return the panel cover underneath it and secure with the two Philips head screws.
Step 25: Shut the oven door.
Step 26: Reconnect the power to the oven by switching the breaker on or plugging the oven’s power cord back in.
Step 27: Push the oven back to the wall.

Follow these steps to replace the cooling fan in your Whirlpool gas range…
Step 1: Unplug the oven’s power cord or switch the circuit breaker off.
Step 2: Shut off the oven’s gas supply.
Step 3: Open the oven door.
Step 4: Take out the two Philips head screws under the oven’s control panel which hold the metal cover in place.
Step 5: Set the metal cover aside and take out the screws which hold the control panel in place.
Step 6: Pull off the oven control knobs making sure to note where each one goes.
Step 7: Lift the control panel and support it with some wires.
Step 8: Take out the three screws which hold the stove top to the oven.
Step 9: Go to the oven’s rear and take out the two Philips head screws on the corners of the stove top.
Step 10: Lift the grates off the burners and set them aside.
Step 11: Lift off the burner caps as well.
Step 12: Also lift off the burner bases. If there are screws holding the burner bases to the stove top, take them out using a Philips head screwdriver.
Step 13: Also disconnect the wires from the burner bases if there are any connected to them.
Step 14: Take out the Philips head screws which hold the orifice holders to the stove top.
Step 15: Lift the stove top and set it aside.
Step 16: Go to the oven’s rear and take out the Philips head screws which hold the lower panel in place.
Step 17: Set the panel aside and take out the screws which hold the two side support brackets in place. Each bracket is held in place with three screws.
Step 18: Set the brackets and the oven’s upper back panel aside.
Step 19: Take out the screws which hold the left side of orifice holders’ support panel to the left side panel.
Step 20: Now, take out all the screws which hold the oven’s left side panel in place.
Step 21: Lift the panel off and set it aside.
Step 22: Take out the screw on the oven’s left front bracket which holds the cooling fan in place.
Step 23: Push the cooling fan back.
Step 24: Disconnect the wires from the cooling fan making sure to note where each one goes.
Step 25: Get a new cooling fan.
Step 26: Peel off the foam seal from the old cooling fan and stick it on the new one.
Step 27: Connect the wires to the cooling fan.
Step 28: Position the fan in the brackets and hold it in place with the Philips head screw.
Step 29: Reposition the left side panel of the oven and secure it with the screws.
Step 30: Return the screws which secure the orifice holders’ support panel to the oven’s side panel.
Step 31: Reposition the oven’s upper back panel and the two side brackets.
Step 32: Hold the brackets in place with the screws.
Step 33: Reposition the lower back panel and hold it in place with the screws.
Step 34: Place the stove top back on the oven making sure that the orifice holders are accessible through the holes.
Step 35: Secure the orifice holders to the stove top with the screws.
Step 36: Take the burner bases back to the stove top and reconnect the wires if you previously disconnected any wires from them.
Step 37: If the burner bases were held in place with screws, return them.
Step 38: Place the caps back on the burner bases.
Step 39: Return the burner grates.
Step 40: Return the screws at the front and rear of the stove top which hold it in place. There should be two screws at the back and three at the front.
Step 41: Reposition the oven’s control panel and hold it in place with the two Philips head screws.
Step 42: Push the control knobs back onto the right places.
Step 43: Return the metal cover panel underneath the control panel and hold it in place with the two Philips head screws.
Step 44: Shut the door and turn the oven’s gas supply back on.
Step 45: Reconnect the power to the oven.
Step 46: Return the oven to its usual position.

Step 1: Switch of the oven’s circuit breaker.
Step 2: Open the two doors of your Whirlpool double oven.
Step 3: Remove all the oven racks and set them aside.
Step 4: To make the oven a bit easier to move, you will need to uninstall the door. Flip the locks on the hinges of the upper oven.
Step 5: Close the door till you feel the locks engage.
Step 6: Lift the door off and set it on a cloth lined surface.
Step 7: Do the same to uninstall the door of the lower oven.
Step 8: Take out the screws which hold the oven’s bottom vent in place.
Step 9: To access the cooling fan, you will need to uninstall the oven from the cabinet. Take out the screws on the sides of the oven which hold it to the cabinet.
Step 10: Lift the oven out and set on a piece of cardboard.
Step 11: Take out the screws which hold the oven’s back panels in place.
Step 12: If you want to replace the cooling fan of the upper oven, take out the screws which hold the baffle under it with a quarter inch nut driver. If you want to replace the cooling fan of the lower oven, take out the screws holding the access plate above it and remove it. To fully remove the plate, you will need to disconnect the wires from the bake element.
Step 13: Disconnect the wires from the cooling fan.
Step 14: Take out the screws which hold the cooling fan.
Step 15: Get a new cooling fan.
Step 16: If there are bumpers on the old cooling fan, transfer them to the new one.
Step 17: Connect the wires to the cooling fan.
Step 18: Hold the fan in place with the screws.
Step 19: If you removed the upper access plate, return it and secure it with the screws. Don’t forget to reconnect the wires to the bake element. If you removed the lower baffle, return it and secure with the screws.
Step 20: Reposition the oven’s back panels and hold them in place with the screws.
Step 21: Push the oven back to the cabinet.
Step 22: Secure the oven back to the cabinet by screwing the sides back into place.
Step 23: Return the oven’s bottom vent and secure it with the screws.
Step 24: Lift the door of the lower oven.
Step 25: Insert the hinges into the slots on the sides of the oven.
Step 26: Open the door fully and flip the hinge locks back.
Step 27: Do the same to install the door of the upper oven.
Step 28: Return the oven racks.
Step 29: Shut the oven doors.
Step 30: Switch the oven’s circuit breaker back on.

Step 1: Pull the oven away from the wall.
