Maytag Microwave Door Error
If your Maytag microwave is displaying the “Door” or Open/Close message, you can easily troubleshoot it. If one of these messages appear, it means the door has been shut for five or more minutes without the microwave starting. This is to avoid starting the microwave unintentionally. Simply open and close the door then start the cycle.
Maytag Microwave Door Switch Not Working [Quick Fix]
To replace a Maytag microwave door switch, do the following…
Step 1: First, turn the microwave off and unplug it.
Step 2: Now using a screwdriver, take out the screws at the top of the microwave front vent.
Step 3: Next, take out the screw above the control panel which holds it in place.
Step 4: Lift the control panel out.
Step 5: Note where each wire goes on the control board or take a picture of it to make your work easier.
Step 6: After taking the picture, disconnect all the wires from the control board.
Step 7: Take out the screw that secures the grounding wire to the control panel.
Step 8: Take out the screws that secure the control panel backing if there is one.
Step 9: Take out the backing.
Step 10: Take out the first switch from the holder and press the button on it, if there is a strong click, the switch is still good so place it back in the holder.
Step 11: Do this same test with the other ones. If the button on one of them feels loose, it’s faulty.
Step 12: Get a new door switch.
Step 13: Disconnect the wires from the faulty door switch and connect them to the right terminals on the new one.
Step 14: Place the switch back in the holder.
Step 15: Reposition the control panel backing and hold it in place using the screws.
Step 16: Secure the grounding wire with the screw then connect the wires to the right places on the control panel.
Step 17: Push the control panel back into place.
Step 18: Return the screw above the control panel and tighten it.
Step 19: Return the front vent and secure it with the screws.
Step 20: Plug the microwave back in.

How to Replace a Maytag Microwave Door Handle
To replace a Maytag microwave door handle, do the following…
Step 1: Unplug the microwave from the outlet.
Step 2: Use a screwdriver to take out the screws at the top of the front grille.
Step 3: Take the grille out.
Step 4: Take out the screw at the left side of the microwave which secures the top hinge of the door.
Step 5: Lift the microwave door from the hinge.
Step 6: Use a putty knife to gently pry out the frame around the door.
Step 7: Take the two screws on the door out.
Step 8: Pry the tabs out and insert four quarters in each place to stop the tabs from closing back.
Step 9: Pull out the inner door.
Step 10: Take out the two screws holding the door handle in place.
Step 11: Get a new door handle and secure it to the door with the screw.
Step 12: Press the frame back on the door.
Step 13: Place the hinge pin at the bottom of the door in the hole of the bottom hinge.
Step 14: Close the door.
Step 15: Screw the door back to the top hinge.
Step 16: Reinstall the grille and hold it in place with the screws at the top.
Step 17: Plug the microwave back in.

Maytag Microwave Door Latch Broken — How To Fix
To replace a broken door latch in a Maytag microwave, follow these steps…
Step 1: First, turn off the microwave and unplug it from the outlet.
Step 2: Open the door of the microwave.
Step 3: Pry off the door trim using a flat blade screwdriver.
Step 4: Set the door trim aside.
Step 5: Lift the door latch off.
Step 6: Unhook the spring from the door latch.
Step 7: Get a new door latch and hook the spring to it.
Step 8: Insert the posts of the door latch into the holes.
Step 9: Align the trim on the door and snap every corner into place.
Step 10: Close the door and plug the oven back in.
How To Remove Maytag Microwave Door
To remove the door of your Maytag microwave, follow the steps listed below…
Step 1: Unplug the microwave.
Step 2: Take out the screws which hold the front grille of the microwave in place. There will be two or three screws depending on what microwave model you have.
Step 3: Remove the front grille.
Step 4: Take out the screw which secures the top hinge of the microwave door.
